I like Sincere. He’s aggressive, looks like he can shoot and dribble it and has a solid frame. But I don’t see anything close to Luther Head. Epps looks like Luther Head to me, size wise and everything. I don’t see any scenario with him taking minutes from Goode or Melendez next year. Those cats look legit and are getting valuable minutes already. Plus Rogers is a higher rated recruit with a more physically ready body.

He won't have to take away minutes. With Frazier, Damonte and Plummer gone there will be plenty of minutes for the new guys. I think we see more rotations next year when we have a much younger backcourt in all. Especially if Hutch and/or Grandison move on. I will add that coach will probably not hesitate to play Goode or Rodgers at the 4. Goode has shown he is willing to get in there and be scrappy.

Luther Head as a HS senior/frosh? He reminds me a lot of that. Luther Head as a Senior where he was a less explosive albeit extremely polished perimeter threat? Not so much…yet…

Always tough to compare players from different eras as role are different with different teammates. Trent would have been very different without Ayo and Kofi. Head would have been very different without Dee and Deron. Who knows at this point what the team will look like in the next three years.

Luther had an interesting trajectory IMO. Think he was in the 70s nationally coming out of hs, wasn't anything special his freshman year, but improved a lot. Was best as a slasher early on, creative with reverse lay-ups etc. I don't think he was on any draft boards until he was a senior. By then he had a really fast first step move he would use on the perimeter to freeze defenses, and that opened up his 3 pt shot, which he hit at a high clip. Undersized SG for the NBA, and yet he had the complete toolkit --could score at all 3 levels (mostly going to the rim or taking a 3) took good care of the ball, good on-ball defender who could come up with a steal, and worked really well in our 3 guard offense. Managed to stick in the league for 7 seasons.

I can see why Sincere is being compared to him style-wise. If he can develop that much, good for him.

I would go even further and say that if Head was drafted today he would be a much hotter commodity given the massive value placed on three point shooting. He was around 38 percent for his career. Feel same way about Brian Cook. Kofi, on the other hand, needs that time machine for 1995ish.

Good analysis of Head's development. FWLIW, I think Harris' game is ahead of Luther's at this very early stage (admittedly, based on far insufficient clips, lol). But whether Harris can match Head's rapid progression (post frosh season to senior), who knows? That we're even discussing it, augers very well.

He actually started on the 2002 team that was Final 4 quality. He obviously developed his game over the years but he was quite good as a frosh; I want to say he scored close to 20 points in one of the tourney games

Luther Head and Kendall Gill were both somewhat similar to Harris in high school in terms of style and rank. Athletic slashers, marginal top 100. Harris might be more advanced skill wise. Gill had the most natural talent.

Commas save lives: Let’s eat Grandma! vs. Let’s eat, Grandma! I assume you meant “A hope, not a prediction”?

It is so nice to be sitting early December with next years class already locked up at this point, as well as some good recruitment signs for the future.
What a rollercoaster off season this has been. Let's keep it rolling. Fun to follow Illinois again.

247 ranks it in the top 20 --definitely a quality class. Amazing group to add after bringing in new staff.

Lotta momentum --great time to be a fan!

Future looks solid but Center is still not a lock as there are questions on Omar, Dain, and Lieb. Definitely potential but certainly unproven. Rest of positions look solid with depth to me with present roster and recruits. Am optimistic but wearing my Orange glasses
