We need a 5. Payne is not an option, and BBV is good for some try hard minutes but he's undersized and does not look comfortable once he gets the ball.

As it stands:

Belo
Hutch
RJ
Goode
Hawkins?

Does Hutch have any eligibility left? If not, slot Rodgers at the 3 and move RJ to 2. Can we pay Kofi like $2M to stay?

Definitely a building year. RJ and Goode have looked good in limited time.
I see Epps in their at 2

Day 1 starter
Based on what I have read and video I have watched , i 100 % agree there is little doubt that he is a starter day 1 and unless we add substantially in the portal I think Ty Rodgers will be under intense scrutiny for starting also.....He is a stat stuffer and displays what BU wants with all the players we lose next year.....

You won’t keep Rogers out of the lineup. He’s everything that Underwood wants in a player.
If he doesn’t play… He won’t be here as a sophomore…. Top 50 guys don’t sit on the bench at Illinois. Except Payne, and we didn’t recruit him out of HS. I believe playing time is one of the reasons we occasionally beat out the blue bloods for a recruit.

Assuming Kofi is gone, I would think if Dainja (if healthy) will be our Center.

And I'm not sure why anyone is still penciling in Hutch in any lineups. I'd love to be wrong.

Especially someone as raw as Payne!
Payne is functional in short bursts of playing time......BU really does a lot of subbing right before media timeouts occur....
Payne seems odd shaped to me ....not being harsh about him at all , but it seems either his legs are too long or his torso is too short and that's why he loses his balance so much...............jmho

Epps, Goode, Rodgers, Hawkins, Dainja?

Or, NIL goes so well that it’s:

Curbelo, Epps, Rodgers, Hawkins/Dainja, Kofi? :)

Did you include Hutch as as Easter egg to see if anyone read your post?

There is a decent chance Kofi comes back.
I would say:
Belo
Epps
Transfer (Goode or Rodgers could be here, but a transfer will likely come in)
Hawkins
Kofi (If he leaves: transfer 5 plus Dain/Omar
Bench would be Rodgers, Melendez, Harris, BBV, Omar.
Also Grandison and Hutch could very well be back next year.....

So happy to see your post so soon after watching the video. Like you, I am a huge fan of the "floater". A player who can adjust his shot while on the move is extremely dangerous. He has a great touch and instincts! I can't wait to get him on the court!
I've been a hoops junkie for 50+ years. Seen a lot of VG (or better) players who had trouble with their floaters. Lots of pros too. What Epps is doing is really impressive.

Sure, but how often does a player make that big a jump after year 3 in college basketball? And more importantly, if you're BU do you bank on that happening, or explore alternatives?
Not often, but Chris Gandy and Quinn Richardson come to mind. Honorable mention to Tony Wysinger, only because he was a solid contributor earlier.

Hopefully they have a read on Dain by the end of the season as I don’t see see Omar as a starter on a first tier BIG team. If Dain isn’t in shape with a motor we need a transfer. As he will be practicing with the team the staff should know by April.
