The '023 ratings are totally screwed up. Basically there was no HS season to speak of, plus the evaluation of the AAU season was non existent and throw in no elite camps to speak of. On top of all of this, Fears did not have a good AAU season (Bradley Beale Elite) and word is his LaLu season is not going good. So bottom line is he's not top 35 but rather at best in the 75-100 range. This is not to say that he can't recover and be in that top 50 group but much more talent evaluation is needed. Coaches are really slow to accept commitments on these '023's as evidenced by only 7 BIG commits at this point. Normally there would be 2-3 times this amount at this time. Finally, a lot of coaches are utilizing the portal, Underwood included, and they are going to wait and see what that brings. HS recruiting has changed forever. Rumor has it that the portal will be the largest ever. Remember Slim and Fonzo are out of the portal.
Bottom line is, for right now, Fears is not top 35 but rather 75-100.
