In a way, I think Ayo was that guy: "highly rated recruit with demands that could interrupt the vision for the future ascendancy of the Illini program..."

Don't misunderstand that I am saying that Ayo (or his dad) were placing "demands" before he committed.

I am saying, Ayo was a huge recruit that Coach U needed to move the team and the culture forward. But with a high caliber recruit, like Ayo, or even now Fears, there is added pressure to rely on that one player too much, and as a result, the offense stagnates, ala Loyola-Chicago.

I like the blue collar work ethic where every player has a chance in practice to earn minutes.
I would have liked to seen more freshmen minutes, like in that last four-five minutes of first half debacle in Lincoln. We have three offensive minded freshmen. Yes they make mistakes. But when your seniors aren't getting it done, sit em down. Give the young guys a chance.

Sorry if I went off-topic.
Ayo's father definitely made demands before Ayo committed. Why else did THT enroll at Iowa St.?

How do we know he made demands? Even if someone from his camp made demands, could have been Mac Irvin.

Ayo's family has been pretty adamant that they did not play a role in pushing THT away. For all I know, THT was leaning Iowa State. I see media run with these stories, but where is the proof?

I think the standards have moved since those guys were here, partially because of those guys. When you are working from a point of having a deficit of talent compared to most others in the conference, you may be more willing to accept a guy whos has the talent but needs to work on the attitude. As the talent gap has closed, so has the staff's willingness to consider guys who aren't already "Everyday Guys".
Some guys just don’t fit. Program hasn’t changed much in 12 months when miller was here

In case anyone was wondering, Griffin is averaging 3 points per game in 2 games this year! No curb stomps reported at this time.
Took some digging but found that he is on the roster of the Westchester Knicks, NY Knicks G League affiliate. For some reason I thought you meant that he was averaging that with Syracuse and wondered what had went wrong

Wait, what did Adam and Tevian do other than transfer?
Tev got in trouble a couple times with the staff. (rumors of smoking a lot of weed) As far as AM, there is a lot of chatter about him getting guarantees about playing time. The extent to which that is true, I don't know, but that's why he is likely thrown in with Smith and Grif.

1) It is possible (IIRC, it was, I could be wrong) that THT camp had some demands that could not be met

2) In the past week or so, during the Ayo to the rafter day, BU mentioned that Ayo's father worked with BU/staff (I took it to mean the first 2 years). This is on video out there. From that I took it to mean that there was give/take

Wrong. It wasn't about playing demands, it was about honor. Technically, I suppose it was a demand: exclusive OR. But, again, zero to do with playing time.

Regardless, I think it's safe to say things worked out for all parties.

It's good they now have more time to evaluate prospects and can afford to be more selective.
These are four good major college players. They didn’t love their time here, they still all have had good careers at D1 schools and we’ve still been successful. This is a weird stance to take.

What the hell are you talking about??? THT's Mother came out with story about a few hours before he was signing with Illinois they pulled the offer. Why in the HELL do you think that it is screwed up between Illinois and Simeon??? I'm still pissed off over that situation!! Just imagine really where our program would be if that boy was on that team !!! Watch THT in the NBA, look at his skill level and then talk to me. And I believe he is only 20 !!!
We would have been a bit better his freshman year and he would have been gone. Like he was at Iowa state.

Not to mention that that's not a lot of transfers out for this day and age. Kids are transferring left and right. We will almost for sure have a player or two move on after this season.

Happy to read these stories with direct quotes from THT's mother if you have them. Otherwise, again, no proof.
