Losing DMW, Alph, and Trent will definitely hurt. However it is similar to losing Ayo in that we have skilled players at their positions being developed. Just don’t see that situation with Kofi. Next man up is not close.
As much as he loves him I would be surprised if Underwood ever has someone like Kofi again. I would bet that either Kofi is back or the starting 5 isn't on the roster.

There are a limited number of people on the planet like Kofi, let alone that are in the pipeline to college basketball. I will be surprised if any NCAA program has someone like Kofi again.

Are you sure; the next man up mentality and approach have opened doors for (Ayo, Trent F., Damonte-exceeding and excelling in a difficult but building quality as well as quantity members. Year after YEAR... and this year you may reach the THRESHOLD OF GROWING FAST with the right COACHES AND PLAYERS WHO LOVE TO PLAY AT ILLINOIS.

Then what is the “C” in S&C coach?
It's what he oversees and what he lends his expertise to. There's no magic to players showing up here and becoming fit because they've got a copy of Fletch's program under their pillow. The conditioning is done by the player, not by the coach.

Once again, Baylor's guy isn't chopped liver. He's been there during arguably the best stretch in Baylor basketball history. He's been the S&C guy for three all-Americans and five guys currently in the NBA. They're reigning national champions.

In May 2014, Melton was recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. The title is the highest honor that can be achieved by a strength & conditioning coach, and Melton is the only current Baylor strength coach to have earned the recognition.

Like coaching, S&C can often come down to fit and personality. Hopefully everything is clicking with Dainja.

Important to note that I believe Dain missed almost the entirety of last year after having foot surgery. Who knows if it ever would have clicked at Baylor but I don't think it's some situation where he just wasn't trying. For the record, Fletch always puts guys on his story on IG working out/running and Dain is on his story usually at least 5 or so times a week.

Rankings aren't everything but it's encouraging to see our recruits over the last couple years consistently rise in the rankings across the board. I'm starting to think the "recruit dropping in ranking after committing to Illinois" curse was more of a "Bruce Weber can't evaluate talent" curse 🤔🤷‍♂️ lol

I think Weber or more accurately his assistants chased recruits based on rankings. At least a portion of that was because of perception from the fanbase/administrators.
