It's what he oversees and what he lends his expertise to. There's no magic to players showing up here and becoming fit because they've got a copy of Fletch's program under their pillow. The conditioning is done by the player, not by the coach.
Once again, Baylor's guy isn't chopped liver. He's been there during arguably the best stretch in Baylor basketball history. He's been the S&C guy for three all-Americans and five guys currently in the NBA. They're reigning national champions.
In May 2014, Melton was recognized as a Master Strength and Conditioning coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association. The title is the highest honor that can be achieved by a strength & conditioning coach, and Melton is the only current Baylor strength coach to have earned the recognition.
Like coaching, S&C can often come down to fit and personality. Hopefully everything is clicking with Dainja.
