I know the majority of this thread is about Boswell, but how did Xavier Booker like his visit? Snagging him out of Indiana would be pretty cool.
Does this answer your question?

You really need 5 good guards/different skills to do well in our conference...we were a little short for some games earlier between covid and injuries...Cohawk, DW, and Plummer are not point guards...we have Frazier and Curbelo this year....If he reclassifies, I'm assuming we won't be going after a transfer guard?
Our backcourt will then be Curbelo, Podz, Boswell, Epps, and Harris which sounds like very few minutes to go around for a lot of quality players...
Couldn't agree more. It's not done until it's signed. The issues is that Arizona still has a visit to jump back ahead. Unless he never takes that visit, which seems somewhat unlikely given the proximity.
You’re gonna be sweating for at least 7 more days.

It's a huge factor now, and will grow even more quickly. How much revenue the two schools generate is pretty irrelevant for the NIL discussion. I suppose it gives some indication of donor support that might translate to NIL deals.
I'm in CU. The best I can tell, the only company paying our players for their name in a legitimate "paying this guy will help our bottom line" sort of way is OSF paying Kofi and DWM.
The million dollar question for the Illini and other schools is how many alums and their companies are willing to overpay for endorsements and other NIL services.
btw, I doubt the NIL is "rrelevant". It might not be the most important factor, but I'd be shocked if it wasn't a factor.
We lived in Phoenix for 15 years. He's experienced 120F days. With the low humidity, forcing him to to Tucson at 100F would actually help the Kitties. He was in C-U during snow. He should be forced to visit Tucson in summer 100F to be fair.
Read it. Then read it again. Then try to remember it. I never have a problem with comments about a players performance or their game. The personal insult stuff is always uncalled for.I’m pretty close with his HS coach, he told me that Xavier really likes us & is tight with TA. Mom is a BIG fan of Brad and the staff. Chester made a big impression on them with how passionate he is about Illinois and what Illinois has done for him. (Having a former player on staff is a bigger selling point than people realize)
Little piece of info I got. Mom did not like how IU fans were to TJD after his showing against us & Kofi… (Yes, parents notice this stuff)
Exactly why it’s a bad idea to talk about current players transferring.I’m pretty close with his HS coach, he told me that Xavier really likes us & is tight with TA. He looks like Scottie Pippen
Harris has a serious all-business face.

This was my initial reaction as well. Can't help but think of the cautionary tale that is Khristian Lander. On the other hand, if he's the real deal the benefit is we lock him up and don't have to wait nearly a year for him to sign, in which time who knows what can happen. Plus his shooting would be nice to have with Plummer being gone.I would prefer Boswell stay a '23. Too many guys have reclassified up a year and really struggled at the college level. Plus, it lays excellent groudwork for the rest of the class. Regardless, I just want him in the Orange & Blue
Not to mention we really don't have any scholarships available for next year right now. This was my initial reaction as well. Can't help but think of the cautionary tale that is Khristian Lander. Shooting won't exactly be a problem next year with Podz, Goode, RJ, and Epps all being incredible shooters. This was my initial reaction as well. Sounds great!!Expect him to make that trip to AZ… Family want to make sure he’s 100% with his decision. He’s a very mature kid, has a great family. They’re going about everything the right way.
But everyone I talk to says it’s nothing more than a courtesy.
FWIW, he told multiple players/recruits that he’s coming.
Can't ever have too many good shooters, especially ones with PG skills, but point taken. If you could guarantee nothing goes wrong, then I'd probably rather Boswell stays a '23, but given the ways things can change in a year I think you take the 5-star recruit early if that's what he wants to do.Shooting won't exactly be a problem next year with Podz, Goode, RJ, and Epps all being incredible shooters.
We keep forgetting that Boswell's grandfather played football for the Illini.Didn't realize Boswell was part of the Aina clan -- no wonder he's a gifted athlete. I grew up around and played sports with his two uncles, one of whom was the Babe Ruth of C-U little league baseball (could throw a 70 mph fastball in 6th grade and was good for a HR/game). They were a pretty tight-knit family from what I can recall. My family moved when I was around Kylan's age; that's a tough age to leave childhood friends and I can attest to the pull C-U has when that is where you spent your whole childhood, even if the place you move to is more interesting/metropolitan (and that's without having significant family in the area too). Hopefully the state of our program and Ayo's success will help convince Kylan/his parents that he doesn't need to be elsewhere to get the recognition he deserves.
