The people on this board , that some call insiders, OBVIOUSLY know more than the rest of us do. The reality is “recruiting is fluid”. Nobody really knows what is going on in the mind of a 17 year old from minute to minute. It’s like saying the weatherman is inept when he predicts 6 inches of snow and we get 5.
For those of you whose feelings are hurt by comment #3, please read it in it's entirety.
I said very few. I too appreciate the true insiders and the insight they pass on to us.

I think the feeling of being a bridesmaid is justified to an extent.

We've gotten some serious talent over the best 4 years. But it's definitely justified to be disappointed to come in 2nd or 3rd for a true consensus 5 star everytime. It's also justified to question whether we currently have the firepower to win those recruitments.

If we continue to land top transfer talent to stop gap holes and top 25 recruiting classes, we'll be contenders regardless of the number of stars we have on the team. The important thing here is recruiting an entire team not just one player.

Do I hope he chooses the Illini over Zona? Sure I do. However I am not worried about it. Our program is trending up and will continue to do so. Clearly we won't get every recruit but that doesn't mean we can't be selective. BU and the staff are developing players in a top conference. The quality of transfers and recruits that want to play for BU is going to keep getting better even if some go we want choose to play elsewhere. So although I hope he picks the Illini being from CU I'm not upset if he doesn't . We will have very good players that want to transfer or come play for the Illini.

I understand it does not look promising right now but he has not committed to Arizona yet. I would at least wait for a committment before I started saying, "woe is me." There is a great class coming in next year and one stud signed in 2024 already. Things look better than they have for Illinois basketball in quite a while. My view is that Boswell is a nice player but we are not talking about Lebron or Michael here. He is not coming in and leading them to a national championship. I think he is a borderline NBA player after 4 years in college. If Illinois misses on him, things will be ok.
Thanks for the reminder on Morez. He hasn't come up in the last day that I've seen. Hopefully we're building on that block.

The short video I saw of KB and Alexander talking during his visit to SFC prior to the Northwestern game looked pretty awkward. He's too important of a recruit to let that happen. I know Frazier can't take the lead on all the recruits, but he should of had the lead on KB. I may be mistaken but the optics didn't generate confidence.
Alexander has been with BU from the jump. It seems likely that Geoff had contact with Kylan when he was playing locally. A lot of people on this board thought Kofi was long gone because Alexander was the one working him when he was in the portal.

I understand being disappointed if we don't land Boswell, but what is this everytime? I think it's much easier to focus on the ones you miss than the ones you hit. Per 247, we've had five top 50 prospects since 2018 (year we got Ayo). That's an average of 1/year - not including Morez.

I've said this before, but I had 0 idea who Ty Rodgers or Jayden Epps were this time last year. And fans seem pretty happy with those 2. I'm sure there'll be other big names for us to go after.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but to be fair the poster specified consensus 5-star recruits. In the time 247 has been rating recruits, we've never landed one of those. Not once. And before we start to blame the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world, the list of programs that have landed 5 star recruits in the last 3 years includes Arkansas, Houston, Oregon, LSU, Texas, Alabama, Indiana, USC, Florida, Memphis, Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan, Stanford, MSU, Georgetown, FSU, Oklahoma St., Arizona St., and Howard. We clearly can win, and are winning, without these kinds of recruits, but clearly we want some of these guys because we're recruiting them hard, and it would be awesome to finally land one.

It was Geoff who kept Kofi here, correct? I trust him, perhaps he had a relationship with him from when KB was in Junior High School as well.
Yeah I'm not saying it would have gone differently if Chester was the primary or questioning Geoff's recruiting abilities, but it's still interesting given the positions they coach. Geoff also wasn't in a recruiting position prior to last summer, right? Would've just had to have been a casual rubbing of shoulders in that case?
