As much as Roddy posts up, at first i questioned the fit with Kofi if he comes back but the more i think of it, no one is doubling off kofi anyways to let him get the ball in the paint and having a guy on the court that can get a bucket when Kofi is out the game would be amazing

Will be shocked if GBW loses. One of great teams in history of Illinois%. Especially when considering public HS limited by boundaries.

Watched WY play tonight as well and am so glad we passed on AJ Casey. Not impressed with game at all. No interest at all.

Pierce is a steal for Princeton. Very athletic and skilled. One of his brothers played finished at UNC and another is about to be drafted in the NFL after a huge combine and production at Cincy. Durkin from West will be a good pickup for a mid-major. Warden will be a perfect walk on. Sneaky athletic and will work his tail off in practice.
Isn’t Durkin going to West Point?

Warden at 6'4" is the shortest starter on GW. They play him under the basket in their zone defense with 6'11" Huff on the perimeter to clog the passing lanes. Very good passing team also....beat the press easily in the game yesterday. Think Durkin made 8 threes yesterday...game over.

The best team I saw was King with 2 7 ft guys in 7'1" Rashard Griffith, 7'3" Hamilton, Jamie Brandon, Johnnie Selves, and I forget the last DI guy with a underclassmen. That team was insane.
The best team to never win a title was the Westinghouse team of 77 with Aguirre, Eddie Johnson And Skip Dillard. They, along with Chicago Phillips were both undefeated going into the SuperSectional game. The 78 team lost Eddie but added Michael Jenkins and Bernard Randolph. That team lost to Isiah Thomas and WestChester St Joseph in the Quarterfinals

Yeah, King was a powerhouse back in the day. That was during my hs days...

He tore his ACL in July 2021. He won't play in college until September 2023. How long does it take to bounce back?

I think people need to understand, everything with Clark is accelerated. He committed to DePaul in the 8th grade. Backed out and committed to Kentucky as a Soph. Now as a Sr he's backed out. This accelerated drive is what would make me think he has the NBA in his plans sooner rather than later.
He may or may not be the same player after coming back. In the best scenario he does, the first year will be like testing the water at least for the mental part.

If I'm understanding the scholarship grid correctly the only way Skyy Clark could play for Illinois on scholarship is if Kofi did not return or we had a scholarship player transfer out, correct?

We are overcommitted by 2 if all players with eligibility return. Thst includes Kofi, Grandi, and Hutch. So we need two to leave to make room for our incoming class. Then we'd need one more to leave to make room for Skyy. It can be any combination of those three and transfers, or just transfers, or all those 3.

AC evidently did work on his shot over the Summer but unfortunately it did not transfer to the court. He is, however, the best mid-range shooter on the team...and the only one who seems to look for that shot where he is money. Let's hope he can become a threat from the arc....it just hard work and thousands of reps, but no one knows how much time he spends there...except it was not enough.
Curbelo is shooting under 40 percent on 2s and under 20 percent on 3s this season.

There will be guys on our current roster that transfer out or leave before their eligibility expires. The only ones with no more eligibility are Plummer. Trent, and DMW. But there will almost certainly be others leaving. Last year we lost four - Georgi, Miller, Ayo and a back-up Center I can't remember (Ayo was expected). I'm betting it will be at least as many this year. Kofi, Jacob, and Hutch are the most obvious, but there will likely be others. That's just the way college basketball works these days.

The best H.S. team I ever saw too…hands down! Fugg-it-a-bout-it! I mean really, who has not one but two 7 foot dudes on a high school team?? Then of course…Jamie Brandon (LSU) Johnnie Selvie (UConn)….wow!

This is really neither here nor there…but I remember Selvie showed up at Quincy with one of those house arrest ankle bracelets…don’t know anything about the back story of it…I only remember it because it was 1989, I was kid, and I’d never seen one before. Selvie and Brandon were awesome players. Amazing. !!

Anyways, Chicago King and Sonny Cox were taking on Jerry Legget’s last good
team at Quincy. AND…THAT place WAS packed, stuffy and electric!! TheBlue Devils had names like Wemhoener, Banta, and I think a kid named Johnson?) It was more like an All-Adams County team really…Banta transferred from Payton-Seymour and Johnson?…from Camp-Point Central. Quincy was no fluke that year…good enough to reach 4th in AA state. What a game

Had not seen a better game before or since…

If we’re looking for possible transfers from rosters of fired coaches (I’m not sure that we are, but why not?), I’d be interested in Trevon Brazile, the Mizzou freshman who looked great against the Illini. He ended up averaging 6.6 points/5.5 rebounds, and in their last 10 games it was 8.4/7.1

Have to wonder what this means for Adam Miller. Hopefully not to Michigan.
Have to think he and his family are re-thinking that transfer. Wish no ill will, whatsoever, but sometimes the best change is no change at all. Certainly a lesson to potentially be learned here.

It might depend on who else leaves I guess. Lot of talent on that roster that could be looking for a new home. Still wish he had stayed. We really missed his defense this year.
