You can’t guarantee being competitive if you’re relying on multiple non 5 star freshman early.
Brad and Co just won the BIG for the first time in 17 years!
What if Frosh played more, we lost 2 more games, finished in middle of BIG and got bounced the first round as an 8 seed. Would that have been better?
Guess we’re not losing him to KState, but if he does go elsewhere, it’s nice to know there are so many options for HC so close to home.
I’m out…🤦🏼

Teachers are absolutely rewarded, just find a way to develop 6'9" athletic freaks in the classroom and you'll get offers ;)
The best player in the history of our school ended up at ranger junior college this year because with super seniors coming back c/o 2021 kids got shafted. 4 year varsity player with stats, accolades and winning legacy to back it up.

2023 kids from our area who will never be as good as him have multiple high major offers as recruiting goes back to normal.

He was a better HS player than Jamal Shead (also from our area, coached against him twice) for reference. He actually played AAU for Shead’s dad.

What if, we started freshmen every single game and gave them 20+ minutes, but then they decided to transfer out?

At least they’d be ready for next year.

Depth with Skyy:

1 Curbelo/Epps
2 Skyy/Podz/Harris
3 Melendez/Goode
4 Hawkins/Rodgers
5 Dainja/Payne/BBV/Lieb

Thoughts?
We would still have two scholarship spots open if you’re including the departure of Kofi, Grandison, and Hutch.

We need to add an experienced guard in the portal and another big. Hopefully, Omar improves, but right now he’s just a tall athlete, not a basketball player.

No, this covers all 13 available slots. We only had 15 this year due to the super-senior exemption for Trent and DMW.

I’d be happy for kofi if he goes pro but if he transfers to a Kentucky like school, I’ll be devastated. Any chance of that happening? Please say no.

Long way to go, but if you asked me right now if Kofi comes back or not, I would lean towards coming back
Be interesting to see how the draft process shakes out. Kofi has made a ton of progress the last two years. I wouldn’t be surprised if a team doesn’t take him knowing that they would have him full time to continue his progression.
We’ll see….

From what I’ve heard TA should stay as long as we open up the checkbook, which I fully expect
That’s good. Kentucky guy stated Louisville has money problems. Called out Payne as coach about a month ago, couldn’t afford other names…will see if I can find.
Hopefully bodes well for asst pool

Agree 💯. I read an article on ESPN 2 days ago about Ayo and how the second round draft pick is powering the Bulls. What the article stressed is most 2nd round picks don't end up on their teams nor playing. they usually end up in the D-League and not making very much money. If he comes back to Champaign he can make a fortune and walk out the door with his degree, the all-time points leader, and rebounding leader. he will always have a job at the University of Illinois

That Midwest bracket is just a trainwreck. Bill Self couldn't have asked for an easier path to the final four. Let's see if he can implode. Very, very, very doubtful with the teams left there. wrong thread sorry

He has talked so much about leaving a legacy. He would be pretty high on the all time list with another season. Its tough to say what he will do.. another bad taste in his mouth after this one. He was the only player in double figures.
