Nobody is saying these things didn't happen. The viewpoint that these things happening is the sole reason that Curbelo is leaving is what is being challenged, and not whether the events took place or not.
Whether they affected Curbelos decision to leave or not should not be the viewpoint. It should be is this type of vitriol towards a current member of the team acceptable. I thought we were all fans here. Once again I will say it, if not for Curbelo we do not make it out of the first round! He is what he is and if he fully recovers physically and mentally he will play in the NBA. I just hope we can say he finished his college career here.

I would say freshman year Skyy looked a lot more like one of the top dogs in his class than the past couple years. I don’t think the injury limits his upside but it will push back his starting point when he gets to campus. Again I think he is 100% a take for Illinois and will develop into a useful player. But giving him the keys day 1 would be an awful decision in my humble opinion.
Me..
I'm going to see if he commits...then going to see how preseason goes for him...then I might have a rebuttal.

One thing I noticed during home games, when Curbelo was not in, he usually was walking around behind the huddle, completely not interested in what was being said by the coaches. I wish he would be staying because we saw the talent he has during his freshman season.

Really? I thought his highlight clip was about as good as any I have seen. Looked shifty, athletic, and had the ball on a string. I understand the athleticism may still be coming back after the knee injury, but I wouldn't think the handle would leave. What do you see?
His ball handling leads to some very nice highlights for sure. And I also want to reinforce that in no way is skyy a bad player. There is a reason he has his choice to play at almost any school in the country next year. I just believe there are tiers when it comes to 5 star guys and he is in that bottom tier where it might take a year or 2 before he really excels in college.

Has anyone seen Miller play post injury? Very curious what he will be like in year 3.

On one hand, how could you not want a guy that started as a Fr. and got 25.5 mpg on a #1 seed team. His shooting was not great, but his defense was really good. On the other hand, his shooting was not great and if he's lost some athleticism, would he still be a guy you see as a starter?

Which would you choose between these two (assuming you could get either):

Player A: 8.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 0.8 apg, 39.1% FG, 34% 3 pt, 68.4% FT
Player B: 10 ppg, 3 rpg, 1.9 apg, 42.6% FG, 33.6% 3 pt, 67.7% FT

PopLol listen dawg, you can be as plugged in as you want and still be off with talent evaluation. Seriously, Skyy would have settled down to the 50-100 range in the rankings if not for being committed to UK for years. The recruiting rankings sites love ranking guys heading to Duke/UK way higher than they should be.

Illini 0440 I appreciate all the insight and you seem to be correct most of the time. Just curious who, what, where does this information come from?

If you think some "fans" caused, or will cause Belo not to come back to the UI , I will disagree strongly. Why is it today, that whenever something that happens in an individuals' life, that is perceived by others to be negative(Belo transferring via portal), automatically it has to be the fault of a third party. It's not. It the person looking at Belo in the mirror everyday. If, and that is still a big if, Belo does decide to go into the portal it is not a fans fault, it's the players choice. The fact that he is considering the portal is pretty commonplace in today's college BB world. Fan's not liking the way someone plays has happened since time began. The fans have always voiced their opinions on poor play, good play and just play in general. Hell, newspapers have built fortunes and empires while printing negative and vitriol articles about players, and millions of people read those publication, along with the player, if they so chose. It comes with the territory when you are a big time athlete. You want the praise and admiration of everyone, but can't take the other side of the coin when you play poorly. Really? That unfortunately is not how the world works. It's not the fans fault kids have to be on social media 24/7. It's not the fans "fault" and will have NO influence on what Belo and the staff decide is best for Belo. That is Belo's decision and his alone. Whatever he deicides I hope the best for him, in life and in basketball. I thank him for all he has done, and hopefully, will continue to do for the UI basketball.
Sure, ultimately such decisions are the choide of the indifivual player, but to ignore the impact of social media as a potential factor in that decision is pretty simplistic, in my opinion.
