I understand this. Which is why I said I’d be a terrible coach. However, I’d like to think BU is a way better person than maybe we give him credit for (although I could also be completely wrong). I choose to believe in the good. I’m also silly poor, but happy with my life. Love the Illini!!!
Love your response. Too many people think there isn't another way than going along with the corrupt crap that fills the world right now. We could all choose to do it differently. Choose to do it the right way. Choose to stand up for and believe what is right. I'm probably naive and uninformed. But there was once a time when people cared about one another and did what was right. I actually think the majority of people still believe this, but they sit silent while the minority corrupt churn their work. Just like you love the Illini and I believe (and kind of know through a former player of BU) that he is a very good person!

by the time the season starts, it will be over a year post-injury. This isn't like the 1980s where they just say, "you blew your knee out" and we'll tinker with some things to see what we can do.

Crandall Head and DaMonte Williams are recent examples of players never fully recovering anywhere close to their prior state.. Especially CH.

So just caught up on this thread and my takeaway is that I must be in the extreme minority that would love to have AC stay and AM return.

I trust 0440 when he says AC transferring is the best for both sides, but man if that's the truth it's a sad sad reality. I have no idea what happened behind the scenes, but a disappointing season shouldn't be then end of the road and I really am struggling with the idea that what Belo needs in a tough time like this is to go be around a new team with a new coach, new staff and new players. But maybe this is that rare "mutual" breakup that is actually mutual. I really hope so.

I also really hope that if Belo does leave he absolutely makes us regret it. He'll always be one of my favorites, and the treatment he got from some Illini fans was really unfortunate. If you can't appreciate what he brought, you honestly don't deserve it. If Belo leaves, you'll never see another Illini highlight reel like this, I'm confident about that:

Crandall Head couldn’t hit water with his shot if he fell out of a boat. Not the best example there
How about a player in 20 conference games, 25.9 minutes per game only had 1.9 2PA per game, a fg pct. of .343, and a 3 pt fgp of .324? He had 0.6 assists in those 26 minutes, and took it to the basket, or shot a midrange shot about once every 13 minutes he was playing. Yeah, I am willing to bet there will be quite a few players in the portal who could do better, perhaps a couple of incoming freshmen.

I don't know much about crandall's recovery but i do understand studies show that anywhere from 80-90% of athletes return to their pre-injury capabilities.
Then our kids need to be finding better surgeons, because Marcus Griffin and Damonte Williams never came close to regaining their pre-injury explosiveness. Never saw enough of Crandall to make the same statement, but I believe it's likely true for him too from what I've read.

Anybody who watches those clips and thinks Curbelo was close to the same player this year, is blind. His physical problems this year absolutely wreaked havoc on his game. I don’t care where he plays, I hope he gets back to the same player he was in those highlights. Electric.

He was treated like absolute garbage this year.

Either works for me. I see our lineup next year as

1: Larry Bird, Larry Bird
2: Larry Bird, Larry Bird, Larry Bird
3: Larry Bird, Larry Bird, Larry Bird
4: Larry Bird, Larry Bird, Larry Bird
5: Larry Bird, Larry Bird

But Larry Bird can really play anything from the 1 to the 4. This is assuming we land them all.

Also the practice reports on Larry Bird are amazing. Don't be surprised if he cracks the rotation and the NBA comes sniffing around next year.

If that's our lineup, I'm disappointed. I thought we were supposed to be getting more athletic?!

Imagine in 2012 being told in ten years how rosters would turn over ever year, it’s crazy how much the last decade has changed college basketball.

Oh and also it’s not just Kentucky and Kansas paying players now.
What will be interesting to see is the effect the portal and NIL have on parity. I'm hopeful this will bring up or broaden the "blue blood class" especially in regards to the portal/one time transfer rule. So tired of seeing mostly the same teams in the final four year after year.

ok with only time to skim summary of 65 plus pages and not having time to be on here 24/7 could someone give me a summary of what we perceive might happen /rumors?
my mental notes sayCurbelo probably gone
Kofi might stay
Ace wolf maybe back
Sky Clark? (sp) might be a pretty sure 5-star recruit?
Am I missing anything, right/ wrong ? as to whats being said?
Thanks in advance

Not by the coaching staff or the University of Illinois, those are the only people who count. Idiots on twitter or a message board are not the correct measure for how Belo was treated playing BB for the UI. If the measuring stick was social media, then every player would be treated like garbage.

Anyone who can watch that video and not want Corbelo back is . . . (fill in the work).
