Side note Curbelo committed to going to Chicago with the guys, told them all he was going.....then ditched town and flew to NY without telling anyone.

Damn. Sad to see considering these guys we’re so tight and had fun together. Even if he’s set on transferring out you’d think he’d still stay good with his guys.

I guess, but I have a hard time believing anybody can say they've never flaked on their friends in their early 20s. Let's give the guy a break. If he is making the decision to transfer it's a big move and he's got a lot going on.

Love Curbelo.....wish him the best.....but that's not how you treat FamILLy.

But let's be honest.....his NIL potential in South Florida with the PR population there will be significant. Flashy Puerto Rican PG at Miami? If that's his play...kid is gonna get paid.

Have you been to Humboldt Park lately? You can't move more than a few feet without seeing a Puerto Rican flag.

Not saying it's a reason he stays, just pointing out that we have a rabid PR fan base in the state that doesn't need to compete with Cubans, Venezuelans, and Colombians as the predominant Latin-Caribbean culture.

I just logged on. It's afternoon but I'm still in morning for that epic thread that Dan closed. Give me some time to collect myself before I can begin batch-processing two hours of posts at a go, and hitting "LIKE" an unprecedented number of times while intermittently laughing out loud often enough that anyone within earshot probably believes I'm seriously disturbed.

Well....between SoFla and NY area (the other rumored destination, as well as his trip this weekend)...it's not even close really. I'm not sure how much play an Illinois basketball player not named Ayo gets in Chicago.

“RJ Melendez, your table is ready.”

For context, Chicago, NYC and Miami are the top 3 cities by PR population and one of those makes for a quick trip to the island to see family. The U makes a lot of sense if the community and proximity are a big factor in his decision.

Don't disagree that Miami makes sense. Just pointing out that we have plenty of boricua representation here, too, before someone makes it out to be that he left because we have no Puerto Ricans in the Midwest.

After playing high school ball in NYC without family and two winters in Champaign, I wouldn't blame him for heading for the U.

Correct, PR flag welcoming you to Humboldt Park.
