I’ve said it for awhile: Payne isn’t a basketball player; he’s a tall athlete. If he stays and shows some semblance that he belongs then you cannot understate the value of Geoff Alexander which, to this point, has been solid, but nothing super outstanding.

Would be awesome to pair w wing galore now in him, RJ, Ty, Goode, and Podz. However, Hawk, RJ, and Ty give that look for athletic and versatile d. Just need Kofi and some outside shooting.
Podz probably had the steepest adjustment of all the freshman. He came from a HS where he was the biggest and most athletic player every time on the court.
His jump shot has shown flashes of being reliable and he now has a big ten body, but I’m curious how he moves beginning next year and Tim Anderson’s affect on the skills of our guys.
If you remember Alan Griffin freshman year and then sophomore year, he looked like a different athlete. He went from being a stick in the mud his freshman year to a solid athlete his sophomore year. Hopefully, Podz’s lateral movement improves with Fletch, too.
Would Payne have to sit a year if he transfers?
Once hunted muskox on Nunivak Island in Bering Sea with a guy named David David and another named Fred Don. It seems that at some point not long ago the people of Nunivak took their father's name as their last name but did not add "son" to the end like was the custom in western world.
I see the rotation at the 4-5 as Kofi, Dain and Hawk with Dain playing with Kofi with Hawk out. (BBV emergency backup)

I really like where our recruiting is going from a height, length and athleticism standpoint on the perimeter.
My only concern with the temple guy, as a pg, is the 3 pt shooting percentage. We saw with Curbelo, when you have a pg who isn’t a drop 3s off the dribble threat, defensively you can bog down a pick and roll, even if the other 3 dudes outside are threats. It’s even more magnified when the screener is also not a pop threat, and you end up with 4 people in the lane and no space.
The obvious difference is at 6’5 and athletic, the temple dude is gonna provide you a better finisher at the rim, so you have some hope even in a clogged paint area. If kofi could develop a pop or short roll game to work from the nail on p/r catches, that would help immensely with the clogged paint issue.
I like that his defensive metrics are off the chart. Shut people down, force a TO or rebound, get out in transition and play in space, the lower shooting percentage becomes less of a problem. And our offensive rebounding probably improves too.
