I really like where our recruiting is going from a height, length and athleticism standpoint on the perimeter.
My only concern with the temple guy, as a pg, is the 3 pt shooting percentage. We saw with Curbelo, when you have a pg who isn’t a drop 3s off the dribble threat, defensively you can bog down a pick and roll, even if the other 3 dudes outside are threats. It’s even more magnified when the screener is also not a pop threat, and you end up with 4 people in the lane and no space.
The obvious difference is at 6’5 and athletic, the temple dude is gonna provide you a better finisher at the rim, so you have some hope even in a clogged paint area. If kofi could develop a pop or short roll game to work from the nail on p/r catches, that would help immensely with the clogged paint issue.
I like that his defensive metrics are off the chart. Shut people down, force a TO or rebound, get out in transition and play in space, the lower shooting percentage becomes less of a problem. And our offensive rebounding probably improves too.
