Two. Way. Players.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if Monte had a HS clone, BU wouldn’t recruit him.
While it is important to be able to defend and rebound, we can’t have players who, at their best, don’t hurt you on offense.
14 ppg 40% 6 rbg 3 apg 30% from 3. Nice player but not the shooter we needed to stop the Triple team of Kofi. 6’4”Kyler Edwards played 3 years for Texas Tech. He committed to Houston on April 14. Alfonso Plummer committed to UI on April 17.
I think Podz playing time is very typical for a Freshman coming onto a veteran team, and don't think it runs counter to the idea that he can be a great player for us. I'm not saying judge his talents on the minutes he got, quite the contrary. Recruits get so hyped up by some fans that the expectation becomes they're ready to contrubute from day one. And these fans spend all season complaining that guys like DMW, Grandison and others are getting more minutes than the Freshmen. Then next season it's onto the next crop. I guarantee if Podz plays more than Epps and Harris next season, or Goode plays more than Rogers, you're going to see some complaining about it on this board.I
I read that seven times and still have no idea what you are trying to say. The player knows how to score. He would not have scored what he did in h.s., or gotten the recognition he did if he did not have those skills. It isn't my call if he should have gotten more minutes. But I sure as hell will not judge his talent on the minutes he got, especially when Trent and DMFW seemed hesitant to pass him the ball. I saw it dozens of times. BU went with the upperclassmen, he can do that. It does not mean that alternatives would not have been 'perhaps' better.
Yes. This is the point. A similar narrative happens almost every recruiting cycle. Nunn and Hill didn't see the floor much until late January, and some on here still hold it seems to the "if Groce had played them earlier we might have made the Final 4".I think Podz playing time is very typical for a Freshman coming onto a veteran team, and don't think it runs counter to the idea that he can be a great player for us. We did not really really want him.
I take it you don't believe them.
And here I thought DMFW graduating would end the shots at him here.
As an Oregon State fan, I was wondering if BU would reach out to him. Certainly can get hot like Plummer, but overall not as good offensively. Pretty much strictly a spot up shooter. Little taller than Plummer (but not the 6-4 he’s listed at) and maybe slightly better on D — but not much. Would think Illinois could do better. Also have my doubts how well he’d like/handle reduced minutes, which seems like it would be a distinct possibility depending on roster makeup.

Or, it takes time to assimilate to the system and speed of the game. So when they finally did get to play more minutes they were not in over their heads. I trust the coaches. They will play the players who are playing the best. As the season goes on, the freshman generally get more minutes.
And your Bears backup quarterback analogy was perfect.
Lville's comment aside I did say it was a little concerning when Tennessee came into the game.
