Player meetings should be interesting. Nice to be able to speculate on roster construction without having to worry about replacing one or more assistants.

Call me old school, but do not like "Creaning". I know the rules are different now. But, I like our current roster.

College players feel they deserve to be paid. When that happened the past structure went in the toilet. It's now free agency and I'm glad to have a staff that isn't living in the past and is adapting to the new college basketball environment.

Creaning isn't relevant any more...produce or get cut...this isn't amateur sports anymore!

If Kofi knows he's coming back, why wouldn't he just announce that already? It would help with recruiting for sure.

My guess is the coaches are aware of what his decision is or where he's at in his decision. It only hurts recruiting if they don't have a clear picture.

The season ended a week ago. He is a young man making a life decision, we should respect that and not worry if "it only hurts recruiting." He will make his decision when he is ready and the staff will go from there.

Do Grandison and Hutcherson count against the scholarships if they come back? I thought you could go over with the COVID year scholarships. Was that just last year or not a thing at all?
Only this season. If Grandy or Hutch come back they will count against a scholarship. They are as good as gone.

I think if your 2 time All-American is even considering a return, you give him all the space he needs to make that decision.

If you were asking out a gorgeous woman, you wouldn't say "Would you like to go out on Friday? If you are going to say no, I need to know now before all the other hot girls have plans."

It’s a small world in college basketball land. If you don’t treat your players well, it will get out. Kofi deserves the space as much as anyone who ever donned the Illinois uniform.

Few thoughts I have after going through 35 pages of dialogue in about 15 minutes:
1. If Belo leaves, we have potentially Epps and Clark (if commits) as point guards next year.
2. Appears TSJ very strong possiblity to be added to the team
3. Curbelo is gone
4. Miller maybe a possibility
The thought of Clark and Epps as primary ball handlers as freshman make me nervous. If they have to go get a portal PG, that would seem to block room for more talented targets like Miller, TSJ, Murray, etc. Would a ball handling point guard with less skill than the other guys in on make sense?
The idea of 2 guys with knee issues (Clark and Miller) gives me some pause. A
At any rate, it is at least exciting to think of all the possibilites for this team. Just give me a bigger and more athletic team and I will be happy.

We have averaged 3 transfers out per year in past 5 years. We have been very fortunate compared to other schools.
* Miller is the only starter who left. Alan Griffin and Andre Cuerbelo would have become a starters.
*The rest of transfer outs were just not B10 level players - Sean Higgins, Matic Vesel, Samba Kane, Greg Eboigen(sp?) Mike Finke, Tevian Jones
* We have had success with incoming transfers - Plummer starter, Grandison starter (pre portal)

I am really like Brad's recruiting system where he tracks hundreds of players (prior just HS but now all potential portal) and aggressively makes offers.

He will thrive in new NIL portal world we live in. Miss on Fears, next up Boswell, miss on Boswell next up Ames. I don't know who maintains this database - salesforce.com (?) and keeps in contact with all the prospects but it must be huge job.

No idea who going NBA or transferring - bring in Omar and Dainja, stay positioned for Skyy and Terrance.

No putting all your eggs in one basket like in Groce/Weber years - Jawun Evans, Jalen Brunson, Demetrius Jackson.
