I'm sure this has been shared at some point, but I just saw this highlight reel for TSJ and it got me *really* excited about the prospect of him donning the orange n blue, so I thought I'd share:
Dude looks like a beast.

If he comes back he's a virtual lock for the all time rebounding record and has a very good chance at Deon's all time points record (he'd tie it by scoring 2 fewer points than he did this season - and he missed 3 games due to suspension, and missed a couple due to injury).(Opinion) Kofi coming back would be because he can get handsomely paid through NIL and record chase. Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those being primary motivators.
There was a big todo related to trying to force a scholarship player onto an academic scholarship at NW a few years back. The player balked at the transition saying they said that they were promised a 4 year athletic scholarship, and the academic scholarship did not provide the same level of services. The academic scholarships gave access to additional facilities, meals, etc.. It got ugly. There were claims that the administration tampered with student work records and then used the tampered records to try and prove that the athlete was not meeting their obligations. I think that it came out that every time an independent party investigated, it looked like the student was telling the truth. It was ugly enough that I wasn't sure Collins would survive. My assumption has been that a player can stay and keep the schollie if their services are no longer “appreciated” but that they might convert to an academic scholarship and the player won’t be on the team. But since in nearly every case a player wants to continue playing that the reasonable choice is to move on. Does that sound about right?
A lot of inaccurate info in this post. Our team is very young - adding upperclassmenfrom the transfer portal would be a plus. Calling TSJ. Alphonso was ready to go from day one
FR - Harris Epps Rodgers
SO - Goode Melendez Pods Dainja
JR - Hawkins
SR - Payne (2 yrs elig)
No idea why somebody would transfer over playing time. We are losing 5 starters - Kofi, DaMonte, Jacob, Trent Alphonso plus Andre who averaged 20 mpg.
Returning
Coleman 19 mpg
RJ 8 mpg
Luke 9 mpg
Omar 7 mpg
Brandin 4 mpg
Dude it's a longer shot that he leaves.....Kofi coming back makes everyone else better. I think its a long shot but I was not expecting him to return last year.
He can improve his NBA draft stock in lot of ways
-- Quick outlet pass to trigger the fast break
-- Feeding open shooters when he gets doubled
-- Taking the open mid range jumper if not guarded
-- improve free throw shooting
Why would't you want 3 or4 guys on the court like that? It gives you so many options offensively and defensively, Brad would like to be able to switch everything defensively like Baylor and Houston. Is it just me that thinks that RJ Melendez is similar to TSJ? Same size, athletic, can shoot… don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I don’t want TSJ, I’d be more than happy to get him
Sweet mother of ... he's gonna entertain us with those breakaway left hand dunks!I'm sure this has been shared at some point, but I just saw this highlight reel for TSJ and it got me *really* excited about the prospect of him donning the orange n blue, so I thought I'd share:

Don’t get me wrong, I hope that Kofi returns, but there are some bigs in the league that are kinda like Kofi. Andre Drummond, Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan to name a few. Not near as many as there were a decade ago, but there might be an opportunity for him to be a backup center and get about 10 minutes per game as a banger in the future.Kofi is not going to play in the NBA. Watch the NBA, nobody has a 7 foot center that cannot shoot 3's. He may as well get his NLI money and return for another year.

I have to imagine that kind of record chase also provides some unique NIL opportunities as well.
But there are a handful of 6’10” guys who cannot shoot free throw or threes. They just have to be elite rim protectors and/or rebounders.Kofi is not going to play in the NBA. There is a very good likelihood Kofi plays in the NBA. Not saying he will be a star or even start, but there is a place for guys with his size and skill setKofi is not going to play in the NBA. Watch the NBA, nobody has a 7 foot center that cannot shoot 3's. He may as well get his NLI money and return for another year.
There are a dozen NBA Centers that average 20 minutes or more, who have not attempted a 3 pointer this season.Kofi is not going to play in the NBA. Watch the NBA, nobody has a 7 foot center that cannot shoot 3's. He may as well get his NLI money and return for another year.

Kinda makes you think of ..............................THIS????I would be horrified as a transition defender with Clark/Epps running at me with the ball with TSJ and RJ flying down the wings.
Isn’t DeAndre Jordan still in the league? Javelle McGee?Kofi is not going to play in the NBA. Watch the NBA, nobody has a 7 foot center that cannot shoot 3's. He may as well get his NLI money and return for another year.
One time transfer exception applies unless I'm missing something. Is there reason to believe that if TSJ came here, he would be eligible to play next season? Or would it be a 23-24 pickup? The last few years of transfer bedlam has really thrown off my understanding of how this all works, but he doesn't seem to be a grad transfer right? Isn't that the only way to avoid sitting out with the NCAA granting a special waiver (lol)?

They both definitely have some similar qualities - long, athletic, can get to the rim, solid jump shooters. I would consider TSJ a big guard and RJ a wing. But that's just splitting hairs at that point. TSJ is also already a proven terrific 2-way player. RJ definitely has that potential and has shown great flashes with his length on the defensive end but is still less proven for obvious reasons.
A potential lineup of:
Clark/Epps/transfer guard
TSJ
RJ
Hawkins/Goode/stretch 4 transfer
Kofi
really gets me going... it really does.
