Agree he was ready to commit and illinois wanted more time to evaluate but shorter to say swing and miss (lazy)
That is interesting and Izzo took our leftover? I thought there were some requests from Fears' camp we were reluctant to agree.

I'm imagining 5 or 11 for Skyy. 25 has been historically "reserved" for Simeon products out of reverence for Benji Wilson. 5 and 11 have been associated with some of our best guards (Deron, Belo, Ayo, Dee, etc.) in my limited memory.
TSJ is a Simeon kid, and I pray he wears #25. TBH #55 on Skyy looks pretty good

He didn't play at Simeon. He played at Lincoln Park then transferred to IMG

On the question of scholarships, could someone arrange an nil deal that pays for Liebs remaining years and he becomes a walk- on? This way it would make another scholarship available.
Not unless Lieb is a stellar student who would have gotten the awards even if he did not play basketball.

The source of the funding, and whether you get counted as a scholarship are mostly independent for football/basketball. The rules are looser for other sports. There is an exception for scholarships “awarded solely on bases having no relationship to athletics ability.”(15.02.5.3) NCAA rules 15.02 contains the details. You can access them through the link given.

Honest question: if a kid attends Simeon in his earlier high school career and then leaves for a prep, is he still encouraged to wear the #25?
