I would have loved to see Podz excel and if he did, we’d be talking about him like we are RJ but we are not. I’d love to see Podz as a junior/senior but we’re not going to. So I will trust BU and what he saw in practice and on the court. Good luck Podz. Hopefully we find someone better.

Sad to see the staff/insiders so calm on letting a talent like him slip away so easily, especially after missing out on Brandon Murray

So everyone is flipping out because Terrence Shannon Jr. isn't coming? OK. If he goes to Michigan, so be it, they're going to keep recruiting well under Juwan Howard. There are other Transfers out there as well. Sucks to lose out on this one but this isn't Duke, every player we heavily target isn't going to come.

Why do think TSJ is not coming to Illinois now? I skimmed the posts to catch up, did I miss something?

Appears Podz stock is higher than Andre's right now. With PodZ, I think you know you are getting a really good shooter, good team player and hard worker.

Can see teams viewing Andre as more speculative target...possibly with higher upside, but questions based on injury season this year.

Here's what I can say right now in regards to recruiting in general, BU isn't a big fan of baggage and he is not willing to compromise the culture and the program to make some kid happy ...

Kofi & Ayo were extremely talented and they let Brad coach them HARD because they want to be great and know Brad can get them there ... And there are kids we are recruiting with tons of talent but when they give the attitude that they don't really want to be coached and want things handed to them on a silver platter, and don't want to be about the TEAM, they come to realize rather quickly that Illinois might not be the right place for them 🤷‍♂️

THIS.

Seems to perfectly describe the culture BU has established and continues to build. Tough, hard-nosed, highly-skilled, coachable and (generally) multi-year guys in the program. Predominantly 4-star talent, with the occasional 5-star and 3-star mixed in.

Super-talented Freshmen (Ayo, Ace, Kofi, Curbelo) will significant minutes because they've earned it. Others will have to wait their turn and will instead contribute as Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Those who don't see a good fit will transfer-out.

I expected this to happen. Not everyone can get the tick especially with the super senior year we just had. We got some great guards coming in. Could probably use another veteran combo to chore up. The front court looks strong. Even if Kofi leaves, we would be much better off this year than last. I guess we will address that if and when the time comes.

He didn’t seem to be at the top of the list, but he may get there soon with Murray gone and TSJ possibly off the list.

The whole TSJ thing feels like deja vu all over again.
