Hopefully Kofi, + 2 transfers. If they can get a third transfer that can contribute, great, but if they need to hold the spot and roll forward, that's ok too. Would prefer to not just throw it at a random unsigned freshman since the class already has 4 players in it
I wonder who may pull out of the draft and enter the portal? BU said he anticipates a second wave of players doing just that. If so with the dead line to pull out being April 24th and I believe to deadline to enter the portal is May 2nd that could really lead to a crazy week of quality options. Would be interesting to know who we may have connections with that hasn't signed with an agent and could become available. Is that a "domino" I see some of those we talk about are in the list and very likely some others too.

Is Jake coming back totally out of the question? 6’6” veteran guard who can make a three. I mean we could and have done worse with the 13th scholly.

As I said when he transferred, you simply have to look at other message boards’ reactions to the news to know other teams’ fans are WAY harder on Andre than we are. I felt like I was constantly telling non-Illini fans how good he was and can be.
I’ll welcome him back, but our fans’ frustration with some aspects of his season were (A) not unjustified whatsoever and (B) incredibly tempered and understanding, all things considered. The fact he has anyone - let alone around 50% of the fan base! - that would readily welcome him back tomorrow DOES speak to our fans’ loyalty.

I look at the above post and think what about Lieb. I have heard nothing about him and wonder if he might go the route that Podziemski has gone so that he can play. That will give us one more spot to fill.

He was very clear that the TWO dates to watch are the ones when kids have to withdraw their names from the NBA selection and May 1(?) and that he expects a LOT from the NBA withdrawal to enter the portal

Based on the draft boards I've seen I would not understand why Kofi would leave. If he can earn $1,000,000 here basically guaranteed and it's not likely elsewhere then why leave? I would not pass up what is guaranteed life changing money for what could be a fraction of that. I think it's extremely likely Kofi is back. To take a risk like that seems foolish.
Also how certain are you that Jake and Hutch are both leaving? In reality with Dain accidently omitted, Hutch, and Jake still here, still others could transfer, does anyone really know many spots may or may not be available?

Thin is the wrong word. Lack of experiences is real. Jake can fill that part but I suspect we have better options in the portal.
Agreed. Lieb is in the business school and thinking about his future after basketball. Academics are very important for him from what we can glean from his interviews and such. A business degree from U if I is valuable so I think he will spend 4 years here before he looks to finish his playing days elsewhere. There are only a small handful of sub-A10 schools (where he’d have to go to see the floor) that have programs comparable to Illinois.
I would take Jake back in a heartbeat assuming he is healthy. I think his value is underestimated by most. You can never have enough 6'6 shooters that can pass it.
I really want this Alleyne guard out of Virginia Tech. Relationship with Frazier, good 3-pt shooter, and he has size. I can't remember his defensive gradeouts, but I don't think they were highly impressive. Also hope we get in on the guard transfer out of UCF.
