I do not feel Coleman is a solid 5. Nor do I think it's best for Coleman's best interests if he wants to be a pro to play the 5 spot. Playing him at the 5 instead of developing him hopefully into a stretch 4 would in my opinion be a reason for him to transfer elsewhere where he can play the position he needs to in order to be a pro. Plus hell Coleman just said he "thinks" he will be here. I hope he will and I hope he gets to play his natural position or he may not be for more than a year.
The coaches have always been able to move for a better opportunity and fit, not to mention more money. Now players can too. That is a big deal.
He played the 5 in the Ohio state game….Houston….he’s not gonna play a lot of minutes there but he can play there when we go smaller and more athletic at times

I never said he couldn't do it but clearly it's not ideal. I don't think Hawk sees splitting time at the 5 either. In the same way DMW played the 4 it won't work vs teams with a talented offensive 5. OSU didn't have that. It's not ideal and that is not his ideal position nor do I imagine would he stay here if he was told he was going to split time as 5. We need at least one big body to play the 5 besides just Dain. Anyone heard any names?

He looks bigger now. Has he added weight?

Really didn't see that coming, if true. Thought he would be more likely to just stick it out. But since he would be a grad transfer I also understand getting the degree and searching for some PT
From all accounts is a very smart and motivated young man. Graduate from U of I and pursue a masters degree...set yourself up for lifeling success, BBV

That sounded pretty odd:
1) Who does he think we're going to get in the portal that would limit his Playing Time, there isn't someone out there that would take his spot that we are in on right now
2) He has to enter the portal by 5/1, so he doesn't have that long to make up his mind and we likely won't know who's transfering in by then

So, it was definitely confusing to hear him waffle a bit about coming back - that he "needs to see who's coming in" he must not be feeling the love yet that he has a critical role next year
He can transfer after 5/1 but would need a waiver to play right away.

IMO. Coach is aware that bringing in a player like Shannon and high NIL request might have an impact on team/roster.

This basically means if someone like Pete Nance comes, I'm gone. To which I say, the cream rises to the top.

Gotta say I'm sad about BBV leaving. After the way he played in the Purdue game I was hoping we'd get a chance to see more of him in the future. Hope he does well wherever he goes.

I admit I’m no stable genius, but I do try to stay positive. Yet it seems every off-season there has been some point where it appears all is lost. I feel like we keep tempting fate and one of these years we’re going to have to rely on the Matics and Sambas for serious minutes. Please feel free to correct me. Please?
