I just hope Hawkins wants to play WITH great players and be part of something special and not run from them because of guaranteed minutes/touches. If that's the case, you could just go play at like UC Riverside or something dude. Be part of greatness. Nance and TSJ coming in wouldn't take away his spot, and a rising tide lifts all boats IMO.

Hoping you and your dad can enjoy that NC together. My dad, a lifelong Cubbie fan, passed away the summer of 2016. Enjoy every one of those moments you get.
Ugh...so close. I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy the WS together. I will definitely take your advice.
Had to explain to my wife why I spend so much energy on Illini sports and why it is so important to me. Dad is a huge reason why. He's the reason I'm an Illini fan. One of my favorite memories is watching the 89 IU game with him when Nick hit the last second 3.

IIRC the top 6 from the 2005 UNC team were all drafted in the 1st round of the subsequent NBA draft but it was the 6th man that was drafted 2nd overall and highest of the bunch.

If things happened in reverse, we would react exactly like Dickinson and other Michigan fans.

"Why is TT spitefully denying where TSJ wants to go"
"Sucks but we have academic standards"

I don't get the Dickinson slant on this. We would be raving about how Goode/RJ said something.

We'd say there are 1,500 guys in the portal, on to the next one. And take shots at the Fire most likely.

For sure and odds are if we land Nance too both him and Shannon will only be here one year most likely. With covid Hawk has 3 left and will still play alot next year too. Hawk is not short on confidence but he still has work to do in order to be "the man" and he could benefit from playing with those two. His time will come. The grass isn't always greener.

I don't think so. It's all about how you go about things like this, and airing this sort of thing publicly in the heat of the moment is really tactless.

Also, seems to me the biggest problem here is Michigan admissions, which is probably where most of our ire would be directed were the situation reversed.

It's not clear to me how angry to be with Adams, either. It would be kind of ridiculous to expect him to pay for Shannon to take summer classes when he isn't on the roster, but if he somehow blocked Shannon from doing it that would be a real d**k move. It's kind of a gray area about who is the one being petty here.

Good lord, people talk about athletes being entitled but now we have Dickinson and Howard's kid believing that schools be PAYING AND HOLDING SCHOLARSHIPS so that a kid can go play for another team next season? What? If TSJ remained on athletic scholarship at Texas Tech through the summer, they wouldn't be able to use all 13 scholarships to have a player enroll over the summer (when incoming freshmen and transfers typically enroll). Imagine telling one of your recruits "sorry you gotta wait until Fall and can't enroll with the rest of your class so we can help a guy graduate to go go play for a different team"

Funny how they aren't directing their anger at the right place, Michigan's admissions department.

Translation
1. TSJ is leaving so not really a Texas Tech problem on where he chooses to go
2. Texas Tech has no obligation to keep him on scholarship since he entered the portal and is not returning in fall. I have never heard of a school keeping someone on scholarship after they decided to transfer.
3. What would Michigan do if situation was reversed. Martelli is infamous for blocking a graduate transfer from going from St. Joseph to UAB. Kid only averaged 7 mpg at St. Joseph.

Not me, personally, for one I support all our players including the ones who transfer. Even if I don't "get it" (Alan Griffin/Adam Miller) I still cheer for them.

If this TSJ situation occurred, I'd be livid with Admissions. Not Mark Adams or Texas Tech for not paying for a kid's school and utilizing one of 13 available basketball scholarships so that he could play for our team next season. I'd be embarrassed if any of our players posted what Dickinson and Jace Howard did today. Of course, a fanbase as big as ours, there would definitely be a few idiots that would take up a lifelong bloodfeud with Texas Tech over it.

It's Iowa for me, dating back to the hatchet job Satan tried to do on Coach Lou and Deon. They will forever be Public Enemy #1 to me.
Yup. The fact that Fran is their coach and dbags like Bohannon went there adds to it in my mind. Besides, it's only a rivalry if the other team beats you every once in a while.
