McCullar would be our do it all guard. He could play as a backup to Skyy as well as fill in for RJ and TSJ at the 2 and 3. Kind of like a utility infielder in baseball. Minutes could be something like..

Skyy 30/ McCullar 10
TSJ 30/ McCullar 10
RJ 30/ McCullar 10
Nance 15/ Hawkins 25
Dainja 25/ Nance 15

Yes I know we have talented freshmen coming in and Goode, but if that core group of 7 plays to their potential it's going to be really tough to take minutes from them.

@Goldtop it feels like we lost "almost all of them" to the transfer portal only b/c those exits coincided with losing all 5 of our seniors + Kofi to the draft. We've lost 4 guys to the transfer portal. While that is a decent number, those 4 guys played a total of 860 minutes for us last year. For reference, Kofi played 859. Trent played 1,076. Now, Belo would've played more if not for all the injuries, but when you look at it that way, it's more like we lost one productive starter rather than 4 significant contributors. The guys coming in more than make up for our transfers out (like way more). The real question is can they make up for our seniors (and Kofi of course).

Well said. It will be great fun to watch the frosh develop, the upperclassmen take it up a notch, and the team jell and mature as the season goes on. I can't wait. :illinois:

I don't think McCullar is interested in going from 30 mpg on a Sweet 16 team, that was awfully close to the Elite 8, to backing up a Fr.

I like RJ. The idea that McCullar takes a back seat to him is not realistic.

Hard to see another transfer 1-2-3 thinking this is a optimal spot for minutes though. Plenty of minutes for Nance though.

I have great hope for Skyy.

I cant help to remember Trent 5 years ago in the shadow of Mark Smith....and how that turned out. We underestimated Trent and overestimated Mark Smith.

Skyy is great, but we may find that Harris or Epps are grossly underestimated, like Trent.

Is Nance a real possibility or is this still in the rumor category?

I like Skyy, but projecting he gets 30 min/game and Epps none is ridiculous. Especially since Skyy isn't even fully recovered from knee surgery.

If both are healthy, I would expect the breakdown to be something like 25/15. Although both could get a few minutes at the 2 also.
