Epps is too talented to NOT see the court and i think he will get 15-20 mpg initially with a junk yard dog attitude........Harris is the sleeper pick for me to surprise a lot of us as far as his will to win and will be more of a contributor than many think.....................

I so love the new freshness of this year's squad and think we will be a top 25 team earlier than expected.........these new guys are very talented and will show the way for future recruits to join the speeding ascent to the top of college BB................................I really really do think that ........................................

Wow. Had a golf tournament yesterday and I can't make it through 1k.. anything other than TSJ?
Well, let's see:

(1) Insiders vindicated
(2) HDick angry and lashing out on social media at TTU, only to have UM Athletic admin box his ears. Posts subsequently retracted.
(3) Pete Nance on the table for us (perhaps)
(4) @Deep's kid in Champaign for college visit (it went well)
(5) Long discussion of where to lunch on said visit, including heartfelt reminiscences about campus eateries of yore that have gone to the great kitchen in the sky
(6) Subthread on timeline for expansions of Murphy's Pub since the late '80s. Revelation that adjoining BW3 was spectacularly mismanaged, leading to its demise, and that a certain poster on the board participated eagerly in said mismanagement.
(7) Debate concerning acting chops and range of John C. Reilly. Various John C Reilly GIFs beyond the std Loyalty offerings, including a fave of mine from Boogie Nights.
(8) Opposition to use of GIFs (particularly repeating the same ones) as communication medium on Loyalty
(9) Yours truly arguing the counter that, in fact, GIFs are an extremely potent communication tool, facilitate Loyalty member bonding, provide well-needed humor, and are (along with texting) an important emergent communication medium
(10) GIF of guy diving into swimming pool full of cash; allusion to Dan
(11) Banner day for Loyalty board, extending well into the night and the LAD VIP suite.
(12) Yeoman efforts of LAD participants to push the thread to 40/1k
(13) Morning revelation that @BretMyBeachHouse induced Dan to Crean various posts so that his would be the one-thousandth.

That's just off the top of my head. I ain't wading through 41 pages and 1,014 posts to refresh my memory.

I hope not. As of right now, we have two legitimate players at the PF/C positions. That clearly is not enough. Hawk is likely to get plenty of minutes, even if we bring in another guy. And a coach would be insane not to try to bring in another player there. If Hawk leaves, we need to bring in two.

If you are really that concerned over competition for playing time maybe you are in over your head.
Well, I don't think that's particularly fair. I think Shannon is better than him. Don't you? I think Nance is better than him. Don't you?

That doesn't mean he's in over his head. It means if Nance comes Hawkins' role on the team is diminished. Hopefully he's up for the reduced role from what would have happened on a weaker team.

It's really no different than the calculations made by most of these transfers. Some chance Nance doesn't come here because of Hawkins. Not because he'd be "over his head" just that it impacts his role on the team.

Every player is going to see these things a bit different.

Who knows in this new Wild West of off-season college basketball … but even with Nance, CHawk would have ample opportunities to break out as a star on a team that could also win a lot of games and give him as much exposure nationally as most places in the country. Hope he sees that and believes it and stays.

I like Skyy, but projecting he gets 30 min/game and Epps none is ridiculous. Especially since Skyy isn't even fully recovered from knee surgery.

If both are healthy, I would expect the breakdown to be something like 25/15. Although both could get a few minutes at the 2 also.

Obviously I'm assuming he is fully healthy come November. And insiders here have said the staff doesn't expect him here long. Nothing against Epps, he is very talented. I just expect Skyy to live up to his ranking. And be a 1 or 2 and done. Epps is more of a 4 year guy. Gets spot minutes this year, and blossoms as a sophomore.

I doubt BU is sure how the minutes divvy out yet...

Given our current depth chart, Hawkins would have to play close to 40 mpg. So yeah, if we bring in someone else, his minutes might be more like 30 mpg, which is plenty. Plus it seems Nance coming here is a long shot at this point.

Sorry I keep repeating this. But given our current depth chart, there is no way you don't try to bring in another PF/C type. It would be malpractice for a coach to not do so. Also keep in mind Dainja has played about 8 minutes of game time over the past two years. If Coleman leaves, you almost have to bring in TWO PF/C types.

McCullar would be our do it all guard. He could play as a backup to Skyy as well as fill in for RJ and TSJ at the 2 and 3. Kind of like a utility infielder in baseball. Minutes could be something like..

Skyy 30/ McCullar 10
TSJ 30/ McCullar 10
RJ 30/ McCullar 10
Nance 15/ Hawkins 25
Dainja 25/ Nance 15

Yes I know we have talented freshmen coming in and Goode, but if that core group of 7 plays to their potential it's going to be really tough to take minutes from them.
You got to play some of TY, Goode, and Epps or they gone the following year. All 3 of those strike me as really good talents.

You don't play guys because they might leave the following year. You play guys who maximize your chances of winning right now.

That said, I can't see Epps not getting substantial PT. He looks ready to contribute from day one in the backcourt. And as of now, the only other PG-capable guy on the roster is Skyy, who's not even 100% recovered from knee injury. I think Goode and Rodgers will also get PT, but probably not as much as Epps, who fills an acute need.

I love Harris' potential (and attitude), but he may be a year off from being a substantial contributor. He likely needs to get physically stronger and improve his outside shot.
