Opportunity for mid-year transfers like Dainja
Also, if you fill your last open scholarship with a project, there's a reasonably high probability that they either don't pan out and they take up a roster slot for 4 years or else you have to politely push them toward transferring. This was worth the risk in the past, but with the advent of the transfer portal, that risk has changed since there are so many more quality transfers available in addition to the usual high school talent. The risk for taking a project is therefore higher and the risk with leaving a slot open is lower that it once was.

To summarize this week ...

Unless BU feels there are certain instances where RJ or even TSJ can be a second ballhandler, it appears at least for right now he is content with any two of the 4 or potentially 5 freshman (if Stiemke added) to be the primary ballhandlers, mainly Epps and Skyy. What a difference a year makes. Seeking one more front court player (Nance would propel us from 25 to 12 in one analytic poll). Continue to watch the portal and be patient as the NBA declares get weeded out and return to the portal. Perhaps it is there and then that BU will find an upper classman ballhandler that he sees will fit the bill. And finally, it appears that if we ever were interested in Kevin McCullar, he has stated that it will be Kansas or Gonzaga that he is seeking if the NBA draft doesn't pan out.
It was rumored McCullar had interest in us but we did not think he was a good fit. Maybe Brad told him we could not guarantee him starting?

This guy is a freak athlete. Somehow his highlights popped up on my IG. No idea if he’s been discussed here but he’d be a perfect one to add.

He’s in the draft but would be surprised if he stays.
freak athlete indeed. wouldn't mind taking him as a flyer. Averages 3 blocks per game as a freshman. intriguing

Went back and watched the whole thing. Brad said there was a big neutral site game coming. Any hints @illini0440 ?

So he started to say the big game would be at home, then corrected himself and said neutral site. Maybe Chicago?
Illini play ofc in the Las Vegas Main Event in November, 2022 along with Virginia, UCLA, and Baylor. Below are the notable teams that are not yet linked to an MTE (multi-team event). Perhaps, but not necessarily, those teams would be higher possibilities for a neutral site nonconference game. A couple teams stick out like a ripe plum.

Notable Teams Not Yet Tied To An MTE

American (2/11): East Carolina, UCF
ACC (1/15): Wake Forest

Big East (2/11): DePaul, Georgetown
Big Ten (3/14): Indiana, Minnesota, Rutgers

The risk that is over looked and why I hope we can add at least one experienced big and ball handler is you need depth Incase of injury or other issues. Your taking a risk by not adding some depth. It certainly came into play this year and not just from Covid.

Just saw that 4-star 7 footer Adrame Diongue committed to Washington State. Had offer from Illinois, Kansas, TX Tech among others. It's surprising to me that he picked WSU out of all those schools. Were those other offers not "committable"?

could just be him wanting minutes right away and transferring up after a year or something similar along those lines
