PWO, I presume?
He looks to be better than a PWO. Not saying Illini should or will offer him a scholarship, but from his perspective and with the transfer portal, if Illinois or another P5 team doesn’t offer he’s probably better off going to a smaller school. Looks like he would get playing time at that type of school, can show what he’s got and then transfer up at some point.

I think that list is pretty suspect, and by suspect I mean terrible.

Seems like they are holding on to the kids high school rating too much, and not taking into account it is not nearly as difficult to put up big stats in mid and low majors.
Evan Miya has TSJ at 4th, which is a bit high IMO but much more realistic than 22 in my eyes. It depends a lot on how they rate certain factors, algorithms they use, etc, though 247 might have just had some lackey intern subjectively do the rankings based on gut instinct, apparently.

Those rankings are a bizarre mix of looking at their HS rankings and ranking highly guys who played at really small schools and had big stats, with almost no in between. Like how is Patrick Baldwin Jr. higher than Nigel Pack?

I know this is just a highlight. But a jumpy athlete who can shoot, play hard, and have a 3.5 GPA? Sign him up! Oh but he is a 2022 grad. Have we decided keep stacking up 1/2 in 2022? We shall find out.
We are going to have the mini flying Illini.

Patrick Baldwin Jr. has an incredibly high ceiling. He got injured 11 games into his freshman season, where he was tasked with doing everything for a bad team, so honestly it's hard to evaluate him on anything other than his prep scouting reports. Pack is incredible but I don't fault them for ranking PBJ that high.

Exactly, which is why you take these "rankings" with a huge grain of salt. Nobody really knows what "criteria" anyone is looking at. Just a giant hodgepodge.

Is it not surprising that a certain someone can come back and be solid at recruiting?

Where is this assumption coming from that every player that goes elsewhere was one that we either weren't interested in or that couldn't clear admissions?

We sound like nonsense Kentucky fans with that type of attitude...

I think the insiders said he couldn't clear admissions. There was at least a little interest from both sides.

I think its going to become the norm with the way things are going. Gone are the days of filling out the bottom of the roster with Vesel and Eboigbodin. Might as well leave a spot for a blue chipper to slide into.
Or to reward a walk on…

My issue with the open ride - with free portaling, there really isn't much of an incentive for a player to transfer mid-season and sit out until next season. They have to already be a bench warmer (Dainja at Baylor) to feel the incentive to come in for the practices and such. 2nd semester enrollees are pretty meh too. It's tough to go from high school to actively being able to contribute right at the end. Shaedon Sharpe played Kentucky like a fiddle for NIL dollars and went pro anyways.
