Agreed and only a couple for Harris if that. I doubt we play 11 guys and maybe even less in competitive non conference and B10 games. Playing 10 or 11 guys just doesn't usually happen versus quality opponents.
Yup, Id say the most likely only getting one of Nance or Mayer so the big minutes will be with probably an 8 man main rotation of

I love this group if the domino's fall our way. That said who is going to play PG besides Skyy and Epps? If we have injuries or covid then what? Will Skyy and Epps play together? I wouldn't be shocked if Skyy led the team in minutes with this roster much like Trent did. I see Skyy easily getting 30 minutes at the point in B10 play much like Trent did with Epps backing him up and maybe playing together at times. I see TSJ around 30 as well.
Speaking of Whitman...while taking BU, we were in on Monty Williams also...currently NBA coach of the year...would have been a good fallback...
Kind of my thoughts as to why we need a experienced PG to give Skyy a break and why I see him leading our squad in minutes played along with TSJ.
Who else is expected to play PG if guys are out? I know we have Epps but then what? God forbid we have injury's or covid issues next season.
I think the plan is RJ TSJ and TY can all handle the ball well enough if we don't add anyone.....ex:Houston
I hope we add someone. Two guys can get covid as we know all too well. Anyone you know if that we are in on and have a reasonable shot at?

I'm not going to use a scholarship for a game or two on the concern that all my ballhandlers get sick. Not a rational concern. Scholarships are too precious. Also with transfers so crazy, I don't want to run the risk of running off one of our guys by taking away even a handful of minutes to a guy you brought in strictly to be a backup.
Kind of figured but maybe we can land a mid major guy that can challenge Epps and play the 2 and maybe ease the load at PG and Skyy could also play the 2. Lack of depth there is a concern given injuries and all this covid crap. I've see some other teams try playing guys out of position at the point and it usually isn't a pretty. We did it at times ourselves in the past.

I totally agree. Watching highlights of him recently, I'm struck by just how versatile his game is. Yes, he has the gaudy three-point percentage which makes one immediately assume he's a gunner, but he has the ability to get to the basket and a decent low-post game, too. He was 8th in player efficiency in the B1G for a reason, he has a lot of ways he can hurt the opposition. Plus, he's a fifth-year senior that's proven he can put up over 14 a game on .500 shooting.
I think some have a bit of a skewed view of Nance because he played on a bad team and didn't play particularly great defense against Kofi (though he did put up 21 against us in the first meeting). Kofi is a bad matchup for Nance (as Kofi is for A LOT of players) and the rest of his Northwestern teammates weren't doing him many favors. We should be more than long enough to aid him in any defensive mismatches, be it by playing him at the 4 or with help defense, and I trust BU's defensive philosophy a lot more than Chris Collins's.
I really think you take Nance's skillset and put it on a well-coached team with other high-end players and he's going to be a beast. I really hope we get him.
Also depends on style of play, which will be different this year. I think you'll see less high ball screens and less dribbling as a whole. A lot more passing, cutting etc.

Not all injuries are a game or two. Also if it's a one year transfer that you aren't using and only one back up true PG then use it. I don't feel you can coach scared of guys leaving from being challenged. I don't think the best programs think that way. I feel that the staff is certainly looking at a PG that could likely play the one or the two for depth at the one. The question is like 0440 said is whether they can sell it or not. They certainly are gonna try.

Yeah, not easy. Gotta find someone who’s better than RJ/TSJ/Ty bringing the call up the court a few minutes a game and at the same time, willing to play just 10-15 minutes/game as a back up to a frosh.

The tough thing about having an extremely deep roster that need minutes is that these guys are typically not going to see as many minutes as they should.
But that's a good thing because there are basically 2 options.
1. Play everyone less minutes but have them play harder.
2. Play the hot hand on a game by game basis.
Both of these options positively benefit the team.
Either way their end of season mpg will be lower than expected on such a deep team.

I think I said this a week or two ago, but college basketball has changed. Guys will come and go and you can't help it.
You have to take it 1 year at a time. You can't predict covid happening and getting an extra year from Ayo and Kofi. You can't predict Adam Miller starting every game and then darting for LSU. You can't predict Belo getting a concussion and not being himself.
The ultimate goal is to win a National Championship.
With that being said, you want to make your roster the best it can be, whether that is bringing in the best transfers/freshman, or bring in a glue guy/leader or a solid backup that fits your style of play.
Besides, Brad brings in a certain type of player. If they're nervous instead of excited of Brad bringing in competition, then they're on the wrong team.
The freshman have made it known across twitter that they want the best players to come here.

I had read/seen somewhere earlier in the off season that Brad wasn't going to go hard after kids that started the convo with NIL. Based on your responses sounds like Mayer didn't start the convo with NIL but wants to maximize it (as I'm sure all kids do in this NIL environment).
Too bad we can't use NL to recruit instead of NIL, unless you are Louisville of course.
