I'm sure NIL is a big part of the equation. I'm very skeptical that it's the only part.

replying to myself, lol...

Number 1 for these upperclassmen transfers is finding a springboard to The League. Great fit, VG team (on paper, anyway) and big stage. Sure, NIL is important, but not as important as the aforementioned. And, obviously, there are exceptions.

Kind of figured but maybe we can land a mid major guy that can challenge Epps and play the 2 and maybe ease the load at PG and Skyy could also play the 2. Lack of depth there is a concern given injuries and all this covid crap. I've see some other teams try playing guys out of position at the point and it usually isn't a pretty. We did it at times ourselves in the past.
Difference was back then we had few guys that were average, let alone above average, passers at the 2-5 spots. Same for those that could create off the dribble. This team projects to be way more skilled in that department at all positions, so depth at the 1 is less concerning, imo (not to mention that we actually have "our PG" -- two really -- on this team, unlike those Groce teams). If Dain can live up to the passing hype and/or we land Nance (who assisted on over 1/5 of his possessions last year) then we'll have the ability to generate offense from anywhere on the floor.

Yup, Id say the most likely only getting one of Nance or Mayer so the big minutes will be with probably an 8 man main rotation of
Skyy
TSJ
RJ
Nance or Mayer
Dain
Hawkins
Goode
Ty
Then small dose of Epps
Interesting that you (and staff?) have Epps so far down the rotation right now. I am/was expecting him to see the floor a lot just by virtue of being a plus ball handler. Speaks to how highly thought of Ty is though.

I think it boils down to how you can make the most money as a basketball player.

There’s a set of guys like you described. NIL helps but long term is getting NBA money. Then there’s probably a set of guys who can make more in NIL than overseas. And there’s probably a bunch of other categories as well. Transfer recruiting isn’t a one size fits all. Sounds like Underwood prefers you’re type of player.

Yeah, the better type.

Ty is getting a tryout for Team USA. (Only 27 prep players & half of those are 23's) Brad isn't the only evaluator who thinks Ty is a winner.

I get all that but I still believe that BU would certainly prefer to have more than two skilled players that can play point as a true PG even if they can play as a shooting guard also. We had DMW play point at times last year and he did ok but ideally it would seem if BU can find a player good enough in the portal for a year or two he will do so even if we are better at other spots it's been said he would like to add someone that is a quality PG to fill that role if he can. If they can't then he still has confidence in rolling with what he. We shall see what happens and if he can sell that role to someone out there or not.

How soon will it be that NBA teams start to 'partner' with a favored Elite program and provide some funding for their NIL? Yes., there's the G-League now but that does not foreclose on a formal relationship between an NBA franchise and a favored college program.

The Chicago Bulls 'help' with funding to Northwestern and the Illini. The Bucks to Wisky. The Pacers to the Hoosiers, etc. The ball players would not 'belong' to the NBA partner teams but the teams could have 'rights' of first-refusal to undrafted players from that program or other considerations. And the NBA team could buy some good will by helping to 'fund' higher education.

Someone must be looking into this kind of relationship already. Or if not yet, soon.

Many/most college players want a future in The Association anyway... or at least a reasonable chance at one. Along with already making money, this might accelerate and facilitate the process if there is a useful formula that works for everybody.

Prediction of minute breakdown with Mayer, Nance and transfer PG.
Min
Clark 25
Epps 15
Harris 5
Rodgers 10
RJ 25
Goode 15
Dainja 10
Hawkins 25
TSJ 25
Mayer 25
Nance 30
Lieb 0
Transfer PG 15
225

Yes I know that there are only 200 minutes in a game but there will be injuries and I did some rounding.

What do yall think
Might have Lieb with to many

Brad Loves Ty. Epps could see some time but if everything goes how they invision I doubt its substantial
I think Ty is going to be awesome - seeing some Draymond esque type skills. I just think it is a lot to ask a point forward as a freshman more than a couple minutes a game. However, Ty is going to be a gamer and get a lot of minutes wherever.
