This new version of Illinois basketball will be a lot of fun to watch. We will get to see how creative BU will be with all the talent they have assembled, very exciting times
You bet. Depth, versatility, size and shooters. This new version of Illinois basketball will be a lot of fun to watch. We will get to see how creative BU will be with all the talent they have assembled, very exciting times
The whole family loves this guy. Pretty sure he is related.Richard Keene with a different hair style!
I'm in your age group (in fact, I'm 80.) and hoping I live long enough to watch this team develop and grow. By Christmas they should be awesome!Due to the fact that the news broke on my 75th birthday, he will be the odds on favorite to get my attention and support. Having watched the Illini for 65 years with some great teams and players but no National Championship, I am running out of time. My "wait until next year" well is getting pretty low.
That said, this season will tell a huge story about BU and staff and their ability to evaluate, coach, motivate, and fit together a lineup that has talent and potential....but virtually no experience as a team. That is not an easy task for any coach, but will be magnetic to watch.
One thing I will say about BU, his tenure has been hugely interesting and surprisingly successful. We know he can recruit and establish a very positive culture. Most posters love both of those aspects. He faces next year's task in competition in the country's toughest conference. It is a daunting task and meeting expectations of Illini fans will be a tough row to hoe. But I like the guy holding the hoe. Go Illini!!
What the what?!? I just arrived at my mom’s in north central Illinois, proceeded to get trashed after a crap week and hectic drive, and find a commitment from Mayer!!! Heck yeah!!!!!! I’d post a gif but... I can’t believe I’ve managed this far! Far out!!!
Don't forget Epps; think we're going to love him. Problem is there are only so many minutes to share. And they only play with one ball.Raises us from #30 to #12 by adding Mayer on Bartorvik. They don’t put any value on Dain as he really hasn’t made any contribution at the college level. See the rotation as TJ, Mayer, Hawk, RJ, Skyy, Dain, Jaden, and Goode. Ty as ninth man wherever needed. This projection is as good as what you are paying for it.
Also mentioned he’s finishing up classes in Waco until July 8th. He’ll be missing some time with fletch and meshing with the team.I don't think I've seen this posted anywhere yet, but Mayer gave a twenty minute interview today on ESPN radio talking about why he transferred and why he picked Illinois.
Shocker for me was that he says he "cleaned up" for the Draft process and doesn't have a mullet anymore.
Too bad we can’t recruit with the big boys
Rotation will still be 8-9. Probably 7-8 in big games.Goode and RJ will still get significant minutes. Goode will back up TJ and Mayer. He could even back up RJ. 18-20 minutes a game. The good news is we will be so deep that no one will get to 30 minutes a game. We will be rested and ready for a deep run next year.
Jayden he refers to is Epps.Don't forget Epps; think we're going to love him. Problem is there are only so many minutes to share. And they only play with one ball.
Rodgers will play.Raises us from #30 to #12 by adding Mayer on Bartorvik.
Brad is selling Mayer playing more three. Sounds like we will have like 5 threes on our team! (And they are going to play 1-4.)I don't think I've seen this posted anywhere yet, but Mayer gave a twenty minute interview today on ESPN radio talking about why he transferred and why he picked Illinois.
Shocker for me was that he says he "cleaned up" for the Draft process and doesn't have a mullet anymore.
He saw what fletch did to Dain in less than a year.Dear Josh, do whatever it takes to keep Fletch happy:
I imagine they had to speak about it at some point right? Like how could you not reach out to somebody you know at a school you’re considering? He saw what fletch did to Dain in less than a year.
Does he have to be IN Waco for these classes or are they online? Also mentioned he’s finishing up classes in Waco until July 8th. He’ll be missing some time with fletch and meshing with the team.
Woke up this morning and turned to the Illini Football Uniforms thread, because of course I did.
Then came here, having not visited Recruiting for a couple days, and nearly fell off my chair.
I mean, this is good news and all, but I fear it's an obvious ploy to distract us from the pressing Achilles heel of the program: BU's inability to draw up out-of-bounds plays.

It was premeditated. I played hard-to-get with the recruiting thread and it clearly upped it's game to lure me back.WHAT ???????.....................not visiting recruiting thread for a couple of days ???????
Are you happy with yourself now ?????
Don't go a couple days again or something bad will lurk in your future.......it really really will.........................
