Nance isn't coming here since we took Mayer time to quit beating this poor horse and move on.. Not happening period end of story.. Nance only wants to be a 4 and not a 5 so he will end up at UNC most likely.

I want to see Lieb get the extra minutes at the 5. Is he able? I think it is possible if not bring in Butz..

Man, there's no way you can compare Underwood's recruitment strategy when we were triage mode versus where we are now.
That class was Miller, Curbelo, Hawkins, and Lieb with Grandison & Hutcherson transferring in - not exactly triage mode. I made the comparison with the other guys just because long term they didn’t hurt us. I really don’t remember the particulars of Lieb committing but was he a guy that just filled the fourth spot and we were thinking long term he’d transfer or was he a guy we really thought would develop into a B1G quality player?

Misunderstanding: what I was referring to is "It's always seemed like BU has been willing to take flyers on guys to fill scholarships. I can't think of a single one that's really worked out long term and most of them (Kane, Greg E., Vesel...) have transferred out after a year or two so there's been no long term impact."

As to Lieb, he was very clearly a project big, taking the 12th spot. Said spot is frequently a roll the bones deal. I highly doubt that Underwood and staff knew Lieb's development path a priori.

You really think Lieb is going to be productive as the backup 5?

The account is 24/7, not affiliated with 247. It's a play on its name to get a bigger following and to look more legit. According to ActionJackson it is legit. The timing of that tweet specifically wasn't the best.
Why not if he was hearing the same thing from different or (perhaps) the same source? Maybe that source shared the info with both of them at the same time

I can't think of a single one that's really worked out long term and most of them (Kane, Greg E., Vesel...) have transferred out after a year or two so there's been no long term impact. It seems like Lieb is a guy that's probably not going to contribute but is going to use a scholarship for four years. We're seeing a little bit of that crunch now where we probably would have liked to take two more impact guys and leave a scholarship open, but can't. Any chance BU rethinks his recruiting strategy when it comes to filling the end of the roster with four year long shot developmental guys?
Giorgi wasn’t so bad as a flyer. It’s the end of the bench, hard to get a lot of impact guys who want to hang around for less than 5 mpg.

Doubt there are that many roids in the state of Illinois.
No 'roids. He worked very hard in the weight room to get strong, and even more so on the court to become among the top players in the conference. As much misery as he caused the Illini, I admired Jim Rowinski immensely. He was a walk-on who became First team All-BT and the conference MVP through sheer hard work. Dude is a legend.

BTW, that's what Coleman Hawkins physically needs to look like. At 250 min, not 215-220.

If we have Nete Pance, we really need a Butz to fill in.

Just a nitpick with his weight. CoHawk should be no more than 230-235. 250 carries serious risk of limiting his explosiveness and lateral movement. The NBA wants more KD's.....Ayton was exposed.

I've no doubt that Rowinski worked on his physique maniacally. But he had the frame and musculature. Guys like Tisdale, Lieb and Hawkins (to varying degrees) don't. Doesn't matter what type of peach tree dish you have, you can't turn a Durant type into a Rowinski type.

Wow. Good for him.
I don’t know how much Duke will help him in terms of preparing him for the league. I don’t see him become a different player simply because he goes to Duke. We shall see.

I'm guessing that deep down even he knows that. Probably not a bad place to finish out a college career in hopes of winning a Championship.

It could prepare him for playing pro ball somewhere.
