As a St. Louis native, I actually had no idea that the Waltons we're involved and have always blamed Stan Kroenke, Roger Goodell, and NFL owners writ large in that order. I didn't even know Kroenke was married to a Walton.
As a fellow St. Louis area native, I was aware of the connection, and am generally not a fan of the Waltons, and still didn't blame them. The whole thing was Kroenke's deal, and like you indicated Goodell and NFL ownership aided and abetted him.

I am still holding out hope that we offer Jalen Haralson. I knew about this kid a year ago, even told an AC to look into him. Now, he is blowing up and we haven't called him yet. Bummer, Dude!

Check his offer list...

Known about Jalen for a long time ... He will have his choice of schools ... Great kid ... Our boy Orlando is lurking already

The talk here in Columbia is Arkansas is getting most of the Wal-Mart money right now. The basketball department has had a strained relationship with the heirs going all the way back to the arena naming fiasco. If Gates wins the money will come rolling in. Nothing I have seen makes me think he's not going to win. None of them spend much time in Columbia since their kids are all out of school. The local ties aren't nearly as strong as they once were.
Seems like I remember a Walmart granddaughter involved in an academic scandal while enrolled at Mizzou. Maybe she should have chosen UNC instead.

Can't imagine this made the Walton family very popular in Missouri

....Ultimately, the Rams moved to Los Angeles under shady pretenses, burning any bridges they might have left in St. Louis as a result....

My dream is to become a giga-billionaire and become like T Boone Pickens at Oklahoma State who gave more than $650M to school including $265m to athletic programs. Fly in on my private jet for all the big games.
He's not getting much bang for his millions. Hope you can do better.

I’ll need to see a few more recruiting wins than a top 100 wing to be fully concerned he’s making Mizzou into a perennial top 25 team. I’d bet it takes him more than a year to really show progress.
I don’t need Mizzou to be GOOD, I just need their fans to be hopeful enough to fill up their damn side of Braggin’ Rights!
