probably Illinois and Penn StateILL and Maryland?

How crazy is that. Still lands a Duke offer.Honestly, he just wasn't that good ... Definitely wasn't a standout IMO

I just threw up in my mouth

Just crazy to think that a week or so before PJ, JB gets an offer from Duke and then proceeds to not make the top 35 players of the U-16's. Thanks for "insider" info and in person talent evaluation. Go Illini
sorry, Bret is faster than me!!
I think all that Indy Illini was saying was that JB wasn't that good at Peach Jam, not overall as a prospect. He had a less than stellar week, that's all.The pros aren't the only ones attracted by potential.

I know, I probably should have replied to that post instead, sorry - I was (awkwardly) trying to further the point you made.I wasn't replying to Indy, lol.
FWLIW, I wholeheartedly agree with your point.
Our admissions are nothing compared to others (Michigan). We should thank them though for TSJ.The total transfers for the year now have exceeded last year. It was loudly predicted by some that the one time bubble wouldn’t be repeated. With unlimited transfers surely on the horizon, anyone care to predict how many we will see in a “typical” year? My guess is pushing 2500. Btw, who’s going to enforce the tampering rules when every player in the country is eligible to move?
Underwood commented a year or more ago, that he would look at transfers strongly (vs HS recruit) because they would be less likely to leave. Obviously that’s not going to happen. My typically pessimistic prediction is that UofI admissions policies could hurt our recruiting abilities if multiple time transfers find it more difficult to get all their class work accepted. I’m sure North Carolina will have the same issues.
I just can’t imagine what life is like for a coach. Sure the money is good at the top, but 80% of those people already have no life and little money.
I think I’d take you over Bret in a foot race!Just crazy to think that a week or so before PJ, JB gets an offer from Duke and then proceeds to not make the top 35 players of the U-16's. Thanks for "insider" info and in person talent evaluation. Go Illini

Is he eligble to enter the draft right away after one year at OE, or are you thinking he may just stay at OE for a second paid year before going to the draft? He's maintaining his college eligibility ... But personally, I'll be surprised if Fears ever makes it to East Lansing
Izzo is probably going to reel in Xavier Booker and Devin Royal though ...
Fears is not a one-and-done quality player imoIs he eligble to enter the draft right away after one year at OE, or are you thinking he may just stay at OE for a second paid year before going to the draft?
I don't know enough to say whether he is or isn't just asking because OP said he'd be surprised if Fears makes it to MSU. Plenty of players who aren't one-and-done quality still go that route for one reason or another.Fears is not a one-and-done quality player imo
And on 8-1, he becomes eligible for 5 more officials allotted to his senior year of high school. So Miami may not necessarily be his last official. Hopefully our reported strong position holds up to him getting several more high profile offers after Peach Jam.Any update on where Amani might be taking his last official visit? Or nothing new to report?
Why are Duke/UNC all over JB then? I know that has nothing to do with us.Honestly, he just wasn't that good ... Definitely wasn't a standout IMO

Thanks for the clarification. He certainly got an offer from Duke, right? Is it a "committable" offer?I wouldn’t say “all over” … They’re showing interest

Skyy committed to DePaul as an 8th grader. Some kids commit early so they can enjoy their SR basketball season without the distraction of recruiting. Others love the attention and want it to go on as long as possible. Remember Skyy committed early to KY signed fall LOI, but decommited in March.
I remember Dennis Gates did not commit to Cal until May his senior year. I wonder if recruits ask him about that when he asks them to commit as juniors or fall senior year.
My fiance went to Penn State so I'd love if this Hansberry recruitment went our way. She's still p'd off about last year's 9OT game so she'll take the smallest victories and I won't hear the end of it.
