Hearing good things about DGL. I didn't think he was a take but I trust staff's opinion. If true, can we at least start the foundation for the TA statue, guy just doesn't miss. Go Illini
Can someone briefly explain the DGL skepticism?

I've only seen a couple of Youtube clips, but he seems like a player who moves and carries himself in an Alfonso Plummer-type way, which I enjoy. You'd never project someone as that good of a shooter, but maybe he has a bit more off the dribble game than Plummer as well.

I see a lot wasted height there. Neck adds a foot.
wow...........that neck seems like out of a Men In Black movie.............................

I think he’s a good get.

Some worry that

1. He dropped some in the rankings this summer

2. The people around him are rumored to be high maintenance

I’m not concerned with either because of where the program is.

The question is who at 6’1” 160 can he guard?

CG.....this is part of it...also curious that Purdue isn't working hard to get him back in the fold.... and has went down in last 2 rankings is my reasoning.....

I think there might be some Skyy comps here...Didn't DGL break his ankle a year or two ago? I'm sure having a serious injury like that and not being able to play, and the process of coming back is going to push his rating down.

His camp being a problem has been a rumor for a long time. He was once a top 10, top 20 guard his class.

From watching him, which I'm no expert scout, but he has pretty good wiggle and lateral quickness, also the jump shot looks to have a solid foundation, he gets great arc on the shot and has some track record of hitting it at a high clip.

I'm firmly in the take him if you can get him camp. The staff has been super picky, and like Skyy, if they see a guy coming back from injury who may be a bit overlooked but the talent is there...I like it.

wiggle quickness is something we could all use a lot more of.

This. We're recruiting from a position of strength. We're not thirsty. There's no flippin' way we're taking DGL unless the questions have been answered affirmatively (please note, I'm not saying that things can't go south...they always can). Staff is doing its due diligence. If the kid wants to join us, I see that as a great sign, as he's welcoming stiff competition over easier paths. Iron sharpens iron (cliche time!).

Random question about official visits as it relates to the DGL discussion... Is the whole point of the visit just to wine and dine the players, or do they also get to shoot some hoops or hit the weights in a sort of "try out" for the staff?
