I'm a little surprised he was an automatic take for UNC
He was their first big man offer for the class and top target. They think long term he is going to be a beast for them and Bacot's replacement, he is still top 30 for a reason.

He wasn't a take for us right now and we cooled on him - dain hansberry morez and Perrin. Too crowded for someone that isn't a guaranteed stud.

I'm sure some will perceive this as a slight (to Brown), but I'd prefer a 6' 11" eraser type.

Was actually thinking the exact same thing. IIRC from the old Brumby board, the real time consensus amongst those around The Colony was that Deron was the heart of that team and would have the better career despite Bracey being rated higher by the national pundits. I recall that much like this it felt like more than just wishing through rose colored glasses.

I wouldn't call it a real time consensus, but there were some that were quite adamant that Williams was destined to be have a better college career than Wright. My recollection is that those guys were very close to the team.

My concern with Brown is what is his "thing"? at 6'9" he's not an imposing presence in the paint. He's not a stretch guy. He's not back to the basket dominator. He's not a big time athlete that is going to run past your or jump over you. There is at least some fear that he is performing in high school because he's taller than his competition.

If you look at his stats vs Morez's this season:

Morez - 16.8 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 0.7 apg, 0.7 bpg, 52% FG, 56% FT, 43% 3pt (14 shots)

Brown - 10.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 0.7 apg, 0.3 bpg, 59% FG, 56% FT, 33% 3pt (3 shots)

I think Brown will be a P5 starter but not a star. Morez has a wider frame, more athleticism, and more range. I think Morez is still raw, but I think he has more potential to be a P5 star.

This is pretty much what I was about to post. MJ looks longer, more athletic, more physical, more skilled, better inside, better facing up.

JB looks very smooth and runs the court pretty well for his size. I think he needs to develop a face up game?

Henricksen wrote him up as potential breakout candidate this year:

"The anticipation is a blossoming junior year from the high upside Jakstys, who can out run you to the rim and shoot it from three. "

I agree. It is hard for me to see Brown joining these bigs on the same roster even if Dain leaves.

My memory was DW's mom posted on that board (Dee?). Most were deferential to DW.

So, ZZ Clark commits, joins OTE, then decommits. Skyy Clark takes a leave of absence and there are rumors he's joining OTE.

Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn is with OTE. Cause for concern?

If DGL is cut from the same thread as the Clarks (Mark Smith’s of the world) then I hope he doesn’t make it to Champaign. If you are ready to work hard and earn it every day then come on down!
