This made me wonder - has BU ever had a player that he recruited stay all four years?

Trent and Monte were Groce recruits. I can't think of any other four year players in the Underwood era.
Well, one of his players left early and got drafted and the other was a first team All American who also left because he thought he was going to get paid. Those are both good things for him/the program. Heck, same could potentially be said about Hawkins. Can't cherry pick on what didn't work out.

I didn't draw any conclusions, positively or negatively. Just pointing out a peculiarity. Yes, he's had 3 players leave early to go pro. Will probably be 4 after this year. That's a good thing.

Edit: 4 players leave early to go pro if you count the Frenchman 😆

FloridaMan says some pretty wild things in this forum and many times I think it’s just performative. Sky wasn’t a flier, and his abrupt departure stinks. But Brad has done pretty well at getting guards, I’ll be patient that Brad rectifies the situation in the portal getting shooters and guards. There will be PLENTY of options in the portal in terms of experienced guards.
JMoser16 likes to "set me straight" for some reason. No problem, I appreciate all opinions whether I agree with them or not. I thought that's what team fan forums were for, to share opinions. In this case, it seems we are saying pretty much the same thing. You disagree with my using "flyer," and I can understand that. It just seems that there was some concern initially with Skyy's injury and movement in high school. But like I said, I was as excited as anyone when he committed and I wish it would have worked out. We would be in a much better position had it, but I don't fault anyone for what happened.

Team's gonna need a point guard from the portal. Don't have one on the roster and don't have one recruited. Moretti is a total unknown; hopeful he is great, but who knows? The Skyy Clark flyer ended up being real bad not only for this year but for next year as well. I sure would feel better if Fears was coming in along with picking up a transfer PG for a year, but now we will possibly need a multi-year transfer and need to recruit a HS PG badly. Hate to see us get into a situation like Groce had for years with not being able to bring in point guards. Gotta have them to win in March. JMO
With Moretti and Lawhorn coming in, can we afford another roster spot for a point guard? Would think they would know what they have in Moretti after a semester of practice. Have no idea of capability of these two but wouldn’t think we would want to give up length to play them at the two.

BU had to re-recruit those guys. J. Pickett and Tilmon were also in that class. Monte & Trent had the same options as them.
I could say, "Brad Underwood has never had a player that he recruited out of high school play for him at Illinois for four years.", but that's really beside the point. In fact, I had no point. It's just an interesting barstool "Did you know?"ism. You can draw your own conclusions about what it means, if anything.

The Harding kid going to Iowa from Moline is gonna be a pain. He’s got 14 already in the first quarter.

Knew that was coming …

He had a very solid year … Will have serious interest …
Was he the one “committed” while the rub on here was basically that he didn’t have an actual spot?

Then he “decommitted” and went elsewhere.

I think that was him right?

If so, I’m surprised we’d be able to lure him back.
