I caught some of DGL's OTE games on youtube. He almost lead the league in playoff scoring ,and that league has plenty of NBA talent. I wonder if Illinois will ultimately have to outbid OTE to get him to come. After not playing much for Monteverde, I don't think many anticipated he'd show out like he did at OTE.

Here's one of his games:

For what it’s worth, his prospect ranking went from 70ish to 120ish since the turn of the year. Not sure his results have necessarily sparked a bump in his value.

Why not kill 2 birds with one stone?

I'd like to announce my entry into the portal along with my bid for the White House

As
"I love the way coach Underwood coaches his players."

I hope this is true and I hope Morez fully understands the type of Coach BU is. As I've said before, I'm not a fan of BU's style and don't think its a fit for most. However, if we can find players who are totally aligned with how coach operates then I think that will bode well for player/team development and team chemistry.
As fans we only get a very small window into player coach interactions. Maybe they have one on one meetings during the week without all the screaming. Who knows.

I think coach has different “modes” he can turn on or off, fwiw. When Kipper Nichols was going through a funk, apparently BU became laissez-faire with him and gave him space.
Not sure how adaptable BU is though as it seemed he didn’t understand Mayer‘s food allergy problem for a while. But I think he eventually understood.

What are the chances at rn for Shannon and/or Coleman coming back next year. Is it over 50% that they come back or to early to tell.

I don't think Mayer understands his food "allergy" problem, either.

I’d put it at 50/50 until they get all the info from scouts, GMs, etc. which is pretty good considering it was virtually 0% chance at the beginning of the season
Is it 50/50 that it would be both or is that for either? Is one more likely than the other?

I’m just making light of his caffeine poisoning incident. I’m sure he does have legit issues.

For a guy who was supposed to be coming in to be a senior leader, he sure did some things that made me question the leader part. Like the staying up all night chugging monsters and playing video games after we got pounded by penn state.

Edit: to tie this into recruiting, I’ve no issues with transfers. I think it can help fill gaps on a team, like Feliz and Grandison. But when we find these guys, we’ve got to get a good evaluation and make sure they are a cultural fit. Seems to me like Brad and Matt never meshed.

I imagine MJ has watched most of the Illini games the past couple of years, and likely talked to a lot of players and ex-players, too.

He knows exactly what type of coach he signed up to play for… 👍
I sure hope so, because I think there are many sides to BU, and the BU in closed practice seems to be quite the character.

I'd be informing and recruiting Hawkins and TSJ because i feel like staying is best for them financially. If not then go. If the majority of the feedback is either they won't be drafted or if so very late then why not come back. It is very difficult to be drafted and the last player we had drafted as high as many on this board at least expected was Meyers early in the first. Others fell or were not selected. Even Ayo fell. Personally I don't see either being picked in the up coming draft. If the experts do them go but if not and you can make more here then why not stay. I read Kofi is making 600k in Japan so maybe he wouldn't have made that here. Thats why good unbiased feedback is so vital for these young men. Its a choice that could literally impact them financially the rest of their lives to make big money over the next few years when it will be less likely after the playing careers are over

I'd be interested in who called it an allergy (the testing facility or him) and the nature of the testing facility. Food allergies are absolutely real and can be very serious, but the terminology has been abused by quacks pretty heavily in recent years.
Like "Gluten allergies". ...but I'm still not sure how his allergy forced him to take contested threes.

This all is what I mean by this staff learning on the fly though, Mayer won us games. I wonder if the staff would take him again given he also contributed to losing us a bunch.

One thing to keep in mind is that 2023 is thought to be a much stronger draft than 2024. That's always the kind of thing to be taken with a bit of a grain of salt, but it will be something agents are communicating to kids.

I feel like Mayer both won and lost us games depending on the day. He just couldn't find consistency and the poor shot selection is a big part.
