Hey, that’s awesome and I’m happy it’s still around! Newspapers in general is amazing to see it last as long as it has in our society with everything being digital. A lot of fond (and not fond) memories of delivering papers as a kid, but really awesome first job for a kid outside of mowing lawns.
sounds like our childhood "work" experiences were the same. I'm sure I'm much older than you though.

1. One of our better transfers in recent years, Alfonso Plummer, came from a Utah squad that had just gone 12-13 the prior season.

2. HD has made it to the Elite Eight and the Sweet Sixteen in his college career and was the best player on both those teams.
I'm not really interested in debating this..was just having fun at Hunter's expense. But Plummer wasn't brought in to be a focal point of the offense. He didn't even begin the season as a starter. So, I think that's a different scenario.

And yes, Hunter was probably at the top of the scouting report for those teams, but there were also 5 NBA players between those two Michigan rosters.

I don't know if the Illini are tracking him, but Bloomington High School junior Niko Newsome might be worth it. He's a 6-6 guard who averaged 20.3 on the season to go with 6 rpg. And he put up those numbers against very strong competition. Normal Community's Jaheem Webber (a 6-9 junior). He averaged 14 and 8. He may grow taller. He's already had several D1 offers. I've seen these two guys play and there's a lot of potential in both cases. There's also a guy I haven't seen play, but his numbers have my attention. He's a sr. 6-7 guard from Dwight named Wyatt Thompson. Averaged 25 ppg to with 11 rebounds. Wish I could have seen him play.

Perhaps during Festivus we can hold a loyalty “airing of grievances”. Would be a tidy way to resolve all open disagreements and annoyances. It worked on Seinfeld.
It kind of didn't work. Remember how Kramer finally decided festivus was just too weird and gave it up?

Cole Certa of Bloomington Central Catholic has been named Pantagraph area POY. No surprise there. His high school is about 6 blocks from my house. I've had the pleasure of watching him several times. He's an absolutely lethal 3 pt. shooter with length. There may not be a better shooter from distance in the entire country. And his head is on straight. We want him bad, but so do a boatload of other programs at the highest level. He likes Illinois. It's probably fair to say he wants to wear the orange and blue. We must not let this guy get away. I know Underwood and Alexander have been to many of CC's games. Let's lock him up and the sooner the better.
Certa couldn’t guard his shadow but agree kid can shoot

I lost most of my interest in Certa in the state title game. He could not get open. He scored 18 points, but he was taking deep shots because he couldn't get good looks.

Now that DePaul Prep team was a bit unfair for 2A basketball, but I don't think they have a single P6 player on the roster. He would be a straight up specialist unless he greatly improved his athleticism.

couldn't guard his shadow? How many times have you seen him play? Let's keep it real, huh? CC plays a lot of zone, so assessing his defense is difficult.

Being serious but does BU and the staff really want him badly? I watched just a couple games. Sure he can shoot but he wasn't anything that was draw dropping or uber impressive like I've seen numerous times from others at state over the years. I would have thought Certa would not be amoung BUs top choices at the position but may be an option if others don't pan out.

I personally think we shot so poorly this season, they feel shooting is a must. I think there's also an element of, well he has other Big Ten offers.

To me, I think Ethan Kizer from Metamora is more of a Big Ten player than Certa and Kizer is going to South Alabama. I also called out Asa Thomas, who's going to Clemson. We really didn't recruit him much last year either. Thomas is taller and, it's hard to find, but I believe has a better percentage from 3 against better competition.

So again, I think Certa is more of a crap we can't shoot, we need a shooter, as opposed to this guy is that rare small school Central Illinois star.

I agree and realize we want shooters. However, they need to be quality athletes that can do other things that allow them to compete in the B10. Certa may be on the list of options. I am skeptical of how "badly" the staff wants him. I would think there quite a few others higher on the list of options. Certa while he can shoot it seems he would need a lot of work in other areas to get his shot or defend in the B10.

The Cubs will win another WS before the Cards do. Now back on topic, the Illini, as everyone has said, needs a veteran PG who has proved to be able to run a offense, has dribble drive and mostly, be able to make his team mates better making sure our shooters cash get the ball in shooting position. A stretch 5 who can pass from post and can shoot from farther than 2 ft and one additional shooter. We get this, we will contend next year by playing 10 guys double digit minutes while no one gets over 30 a game.
that's hilarious!!
