Brad says a lot publicly to motivate guys to try and get them to find another gear … Even if it may not even be true …

Coleman is a gamer … He’d tell you that … Practice was frustrating for him last year because when the staff would go over the plays again and again and again and 2 certain freshman guards would not even get into the action on the first play of the game even though they spent well over an hour on it in practice …

Would you continue to go hard in practice ? It would get frustrating and Coleman showed how frustrated he was during that post game interview at the end of the season … He’s just the only one not afraid to rock the boat … He tried different leadership styles and took responsibility for probably not doing more in that department and not pushing the right buttons … But it’s also very tough as a 21 year old kid and not being the oldest guy on the team to be the sole leader … 🤷🏻‍♂️

Which is why Brad called TJ out publicly for leadership … He needed to step up …
This is why I'm fine towing the party line for now. It was just all bad, it was a mix of guys that just didn't have any chemistry together and the thing curdled and it was a big knot of problems that no one seemed to be in the position to untangle.

That TSJ and Hawkins are willing to come back, together, as leaders, and try to make it right is encouraging and says positive things.

But it has to work. If these guys aren't a team again next year, that's on Terrence, Coleman and Brad.

I know Indiana is getting a lot of pieces, but if we are actually getting TJ and Coleman back, I love the way we are going about putting together our roster. IU still has to get those guys to play as a team, a lesson we learned last year. We are getting role players to augment what we (hopefully) have as a core. Once we get a floor general, I am looking forward to what I hope will be a much more entertaining season.

If Zach Edey goes pro (and Dickinson isn't back at Michigan) I really think Shannon is going to be the Big Ten Preseason POY. Which feels kinda weird and crazy (and on some level I'd almost feel better with lower expectations), but if not him, who?

Domask is plus in all of those areas as well and can shoot.

Having two non-shooters on the floor in modern basketball is tough and three is basically impossible. Harris, Rodgers and Dainja are non-shooters at this stage of their development. The former two can and must improve in that area.

This board isn't going to like how many minutes Domask gets, you can already tell.
I know we need more shooters -- I don't mind Domask playing, he can have Dain's minutes. Not enough people appreciate what Rodgers does. Domask can't get the offensive rebounds off missed free throws like Rodgers can, that's unreal. He did that over and over -- and then later in the possession someone hits a 3 and everyone is so impressed by whoever hits the 3....the hard part was done by Rodgers keeping the possession alive with the offensive rebound. There's no way Domask or basically anyone else gets that offensive rebound. (and not just on missed FTs but rebounds in general) And Ty does that a lot, and he did it as a freshman, and he's only going to get better at it. Or on the defensive end, Rodgers comes down with a rebound in traffic between 2 guys, opponent doesn't score -- Ty's not in the game, we don't get the rebound, opponent scores and everyone complains about how bad we are at rebounding.

I'm just saying there's more to winning basketball than making 3s. Rodgers does so much of that and is only going to get better.

Anyone have any clue what Dickinson would do? He's from Maryland so maybe he ends up there? I haven't heard any hints as of late.

I like Rodgers' game and potential a lot. He may force his way into a starring role even without becoming a 3 point threat, that's possible, he does have that ability level.

But a basketball team is not just 5 individual talents, it has to be a unit. If Rodgers can't stretch the floor, having him and Dainja (or a non-shooter big likely to come in the portal) makes playing offense challenging. Not impossible, you can make up for it in other ways, but costs get imposed on Shannon's ability to have an open lane once he beats his guy off the dribble or Dainja's ability to go 1 on 1 in the post. It gums things up.

BU is mix-and-match-y by nature as a coach. Get the right attributes across the roster and he'll figure it out.

No way. Ty Rodgers is so good at rebounding, defense, passing, driving for a forward and his basketball IQ and effort is just what any team needs to win. I want him on the court more, not less. If we need more shooting, Goode/Domask can have some of Dain's minutes.
I want him on the court more too but I also know our top recruiting priorities were a PG and adding more shooting. Why have more shooting if you don't play them with Ty or others. The bigs like Dain or whoever will be needed against the bigs of the B10. Ty can still get 20plus minutes a game whenever Hawk, TSJ, or another wing is on the bench. I do love what Ty brings to the floor on both ends for sure. We need those things. We also need to be able to put guys on the floor that can hit at least 35 percent from three and open up lanes for guys like Ty and TSJ.

Last night was very successful towards our NIL efforts in MBB & FB … Per sources … 😎
Begs the question, why did the other big ten coaches come to the event?

You’ve mentioned Painter being incredibly likable, what’s Fran like?

Ty strikes me as the kind of guy that will put in the work, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he develops a serviceable jump shot.
He comes off to me as a guy that will run through a wall, get knocked down, shake his head, get up and run through another wall.

He has to know he's a jump shot away from being a 1st round draft pick. With these kids, they know basketball is their job. Hopefully he's doing whatever it takes to get that thing improved. You can't have a wing, especially one with his driving ability, shooting under 40% from the stripe.

I just read about his legal problems. That alone is reason to pass.

There’s that but also what I’ve heard about his interactions with females on campus … Yeah I don’t want this kid anywhere near our program …

There’s a reason you don’t see anyone who’s really “reached out” yet … Teams that are poking around are keeping it VERY quiet …

I’ll just say this exactly how they both said it to Brad … “If we don’t get an old PG who can get us the ball in our spots to succeed … we aren’t coming back.”

Coleman told Brad he doesn’t want to play the freshman experiment “bull crap” again … Hansberry plays Ty role and gets more minutes the better he gets … Otherwise … Coleman wants to play with vets …
Now THAT is some serious insider information and THAT is why we pay you guys the big bucks (Loyalty version, i.e., virtual beach houses).
