Werner made a good point. If TJ and CH come back and someone like RayJ joins, the Illini roster would have something like 500 career starts between them. That is an unbelievable number.

Last year, we brought in a bunch of freshmen to play significant minutes and asked former college role players to be our stars. We were relying on players to successfully make a jump for us to become the best version of ourselves. The results were an extremely mixed bag. Some players came through and some really didn't. This year, we're bringing in 3 fifth-year seniors and are asking them to either play roles they've previously played or take slightly less playing time. Basically, we're just asking extremely experienced players to just keep on doing what they've already shown they can do. If the roster fills out how we're hoping it does, it feels like we've cut out a lot of the unknowns that ended up hurting us last season. I think it's a sound strategy.
