What are you talking about? Where have you been the last 15 years? BU took a muddling program and has the best conference record the last three years, the most road wins over the last three years, a Big Ten regular season championship (should have been two) and a Big Ten Tournament championship.
You're going to complain about not winning one more game in the tournament vs the expectations that he's set amongst the fan base? Before he got here, if we were on the right side of the bubble, it was a celebration. Now, if we're not a top 4 seed or have a top 15 recruiting class, there's a meltdown.

Reevaluate and think things through before you spew pure craziness.
Maybe you need to reevaluate your screen name if this is your true opinion. I appreciate where Underwood has taken us, but he needs to be better if he's gonna stick around. There's nothing wrong with appreciating him for injecting life into our program but still acknowledging that he needs to up his game going forward.

He’s right about Coach K’s legacy of course. I’ll give ya that. And yes it’s very early in his tenure…BUT (John Scheyer’s Duke)hasn’t proven it is superior to Illinois despite the obvious advantage of Puke’s past glories.

If you were a Duke fan, what would you be saying right now? The sweet sixteen had ZERO…Dookies, Blue Bloods, or John Scheyers this year. Puke obviously did not compete for a Natty. Neither did any of the other Blue Bloods…

Who are the nothings that have become something? If we are average…so are the blue bloods apparently…despite being blue bloods.
Jon Scheyer has coached one season. The jury is still out on him. There are countless examples of programs that rose from nothing to compete for championships. Gonzaga, Houston, Baylor etc. It all started somewhere.
How are the blue bloods average? They have multiple championships. That's the difference. We don't need to be in the running every year, but we need to be better. This program and the fanbase is way too strong to settle. If Underwood can get an assistant who is money with X's and O's, then I think he can do it. Otherwise, we're gonna stay right where Scheyer said we would be. Which is the point of the post.

“They’re saying we don’t have permissions from the family. I said we don’t need permissions from the family. We’re aloud to recruit because he ain’t got no team! They said that to Brad… atta dinner.”

“Call the NCAA and tell them - IM NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT. THERES WORTH SH^T ON THE LOCAL NEWS!!”

ooh, ooh, I wanna answer this one. I do. In fact, I remember you scoring 53 in '63 vs. the Clownpants.
Downey once told me that game was woven into the wu-wei sequence from Chinese lore. Dave is and always was a very intelligent guy with a strong interest in Eastern religions.

I assume he will be working on his jumpshot all off season.
Shooting can be improved if we have a guru on staff who can teach form, and his FT's actually got better later in year.
That said- yes it was an issue this past year.
He really is a nice backup but not a starter minutes guy unless he develops a shot.

Surprising how a Small Forward/Wing was ranked #59 nationally with such limited range TBH..
I can see a post guy with great size, athleicism, and rebounding, D ability still being so high with no range, but kind of surprising for a SF.
If he should happen to develop (which I doubt will happen at his age) a consistent mid-range jumper and can create it off the bounce, then you'd have to guard him on the perimeter. Don't expect this to happen, but hope I'm mistaken.

Rodgers had double digit scoring efforts a couple of times last year. (@PSU & Vs. Michigan) He was no threat to shoot, but if you don't guard him (and sometimes when you do) he will get to the basket. He has a really crafty low post game. Shot over 50% from the field. He just didn't take many shots outside of 5'.

In games where he played over 20 minutes, he averaged over 6 points a game.
Six pts. per games in which he played 20 or more minutes. Oh my; a veritable lethal weapon.

Moving goal posts now... No one said he's Michael Jordan. Actually most of the replies I'd seen were in response to the other extreme: Ty can't score.

That's what RJ averaged & he played over 20 minutes a game. At that rate, give him 30 minutes a game, & its not unreasonable that he gets to double digits regularly. He is not a shooter, but to say he can't score isn't accurate.
He was never going to be a Steph Curry. He's a Draymond Green. I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar trajectory over his college career.

I can only hope you are right.

All the speculation about Ty and what he can/will or can't/won't do is fair game, but to establish a kumbaya moment...I don't think anyone here isn't happy he is still with us going into next season. I'm excited to see him play for us again.

Just realized I'm in the wrong thread...should have posted to Illinois BBall. Dan, I understand if you feel you need to move this to the proper place.
