The path of life has many " showcase's " that come to us at various times in our existence here on this orb of rock..........can you remember the last time you were confronted OR presented with a " showcase "..?????

Confrontation could resemble a loss of a loved one , or loss of a job , etc etc..........How did you handle that confrontation ??
Did you handle it in a mature way or were you a basket of bumbling nerves that rattled your composure...........That could determine how you handle this " showcase " and I hope you know what you are getting yourself into by participating in this situation......

This question has caused me to ponder how I will handle the impending news.......As always when I start pondering I have to ward off the pondering wandering's ......And as we all know I am weak to resist the wandering's that come from my pondering's .........The wandering's try to take over my mind and if..........................I do................n't fig.............ht...........th.....e........

Thank you for this perfect timed distraction from my work duties.

Been following the discussion regarding hamburgers, pizza and a backup point guard (an interesting concern given the Illini don't yet have a starting PG as of 4:01 pm CDT). But I digress. Assuming they will get a PG who can play 30-plus minutes, I feel pretty good about guys like Rogers and even Domask filling in the missing minutes. Saw enough of Domask to know he can handle the ball well enough to get a team into its offense (heck, the ball was in his hands about half the time for SIU), and he is smart, a good passer and a good enough shooter. He is good defensively, but would be challenged to guard certain PGs. Ty, on the other hand, appears to be able to handle the ball decently, can guard most anyone and would create some mismatches against many PGs, especially with them trying to keep him off the offensive glass. Ty's one current glaring issue handling the ball is his FT shooting, but your regular PG would have the ball in his hands to close out games. Oh, and Razzo's in Rochester has great pasta and pizza.

The trouble with Ty is that he's no threat to score. You don't actually have to guard him. Even though they may be young, I think we'll be happy with Gibbs-Lawhorn and Moretti at pg, esp. after they get half a dozen games under their belt. More than anything else, we need shooters.

I took a look at the transfer portal rankings. RayJ is ranked 5th overall and the 2nd ranked PG. Seems strange that he is 3 spots behind Teran Armstrong. RayJ’s stats seems much better and I would assume a little tougher competition. Not that the ranking makes a difference, but any ideas on what I’m missing?

You mean them as backup PG options, yes?

No. Right out of the gate. I guess strictly speaking, Moretti would be a redshirt freshman? We've had too many outstanding freshman pgs over the years for me to worry about a frosh at the point. Harper, Frankie, Kiwane, Deron, the list could go on. But I'm like really tired. It's been a long day.

Joel Goodson

ties will be resolved
That would make me happy but That's what I was told time and again last season. "Silly" never happened. I think too many Illini fans are simply unwilling to acknowledge our players' weaknesses.

"...he's no threat to score. You don't have to guard him."

We'll see. Just to be clear, I'm not claiming he's gonna be a sharpshooter/long range bomber.

Rodgers had double digit scoring efforts a couple of times last year. (@PSU & Vs. Michigan) He was no threat to shoot, but if you don't guard him (and sometimes when you do) he will get to the basket. He has a really crafty low post game. Shot over 50% from the field. He just didn't take many shots outside of 5'.

In games where he played over 20 minutes, he averaged over 6 points a game.

He might not be a threat to shoot but he does get to the rim and score. If you didn’t notice he was doing a decent job of finishing better as the season went on. It’s nice to have players that can do everything but he should get more credit than you are giving him. He was a freshman….I have a feeling he is just getting started.

Ty had a good freshman season. There's a lot more to basketball than scoring and Ty does about everything else well and he will find his ways to score as he matures. He's one of the best rebounders I've seen in a while and his defense and versatility are way above average.
