That would make me happy but That's what I was told time and again last season. "Silly" never happened. I think too many Illini fans are simply unwilling to acknowledge our players' weaknesses.
You must have missed the part where Coleman said he won't come back with a freshman pg.

Everyone has an off night, but if he plays D, cleans the glass and gets enough putbacks to score 10+ on average, what’s the drawback?
I’m not saying don’t take him if Hawk doesn’t come back. In fact I said we could do worse. Just always a little worrisome when he’s stepping up in class that he had an “off night” against probably some of best competition he saw last year. And playing D, especially in B1G, is more than just blocking shots.

Again, I’m not hating on him, just asking questions. Looks like he has 2 years of eligibility, which is nice.

We're getting a PG? Where did this all of a sudden come from? Sure would be nice if the insiders would let us know these things. Guess I'll start scurrying over to the transfer portal list to see who we may be interested in.

Just a thought but... Is the starting 5 with TSJ back and a pure shot blocker / defensive 5 like Bandaogo better than having Coleman back?

Start someone like Rodgers at the 4 and get more minutes for Hansberry? Just thinking out loud here...

Kid played eight games against competition that was at or around Oregon's level -- Oregon made the NIT -- last year and averaged 10 and 9. Not quite as good as the numbers he put up overall, but I don't think it's unusual for players to do slightly worse against better competition as a general rule. (Utah Valley went 4-4 in those games and played none on their home floor, just as an aside.)

Well there ya go. Oregon wasn’t great this year, so wouldn’t just go by records of other teams to come up with the group of “at or around Oregon’s level.” But they are a legit P5 team and had legit P5 bigs — Quincy (6-8, 220), Dante (6-11, 230), Ware (7-0, 210) and Wur (6-9, 205). Wonder how many of the teams you put in that group had bigs like that or what he’ll see in B1G. But if BU likes him, I’m on board.
