There was a time during the djax and Quentin snider recruitment when this board would go crazy on a random Sunday night. Maybe we'll get another one of those Sundays soon.

Recruiting news. Debates about offense and defense. A ton of stuff.

Lots more to this board than trying to get the scoop on recruiting hours or days before it happens.

I managed to survive 7 days between Tatelins and SMSL. I can survive not getting the "scoop".
Yet, none of those things, as you put it, "further the program."

Also, naming the first reason you're here as recruiting news, and the people who give us by far the most recruiting news being insiders, kinda weird that you're that negative towards them.

Do you know about the “mute” option? I used it two weeks ago and it’s made the board at least 50% better.

I’m a big Coleman truther. Maybe one of the biggest. I think his game is ideal for the modern era. His limitations are obnoxious and he has legitimate shortcomings but when he’s on he can be the best player on the court on both ends.

That being said, I’m super high on Quincy as well. And reports this off-season are that Dains working his !!! off. I think those two as our bigs for 25+ mins is about as solid as it gets. I think Coleman severely complicates the big man game in terms of minutes. Maybe that’s a good thing but something about simplicity is appealing and I think taking aziz instead is exactly that.

I am not a Coleman fan and find him to be a huge liability on offensive side of the ball. That being said, he is still one of the best defensive players in the nation and we would be better with him returning. I hope he does but Aziz looks stellar as well.

Having hope again.

To give you an idea how good Bandaogo is as a rim protector, Utah Valley allowed the lowest FG% at the rim in the country.
That is an impressive stat, no doubt.

But consider what the rim shooting percentage is when your 8 year old child is trying to run layups and Dad comes out and spikes the ball into the neighbor’s backyard pool.

I’m just saying there aren’t many 7 footers in the WAC and there are many more average height guards. 😊

When he first announced he was getting interest from Duke and Kansas. The WAC isn't a terrible conference and the size difference was more dramatic among mid majors 20+ years ago.

All you have to do is watch some short clip to tell you why big programs would have interest. He's a legitimate 7 footer with length and bounce that looks fluid enough to cover out to the perimeter and cover pick and rolls.

Offensively all he's going to do is run at the rim and dunk but that's fine if you have a team full of guys that can score(the illini will if they get Shannon back and RayJ).

He also brings rim protection that the illini didn't have last year since neither Hawkins or Dainja elevate well.

Hawkins is surprisingly efficient given his 28% 3 point shooting and 4 attempts per game. I think that speaks volumes about him doing other things well. If he improves his shooting, he's looking draftable. Does a *lot* of things well with IMO less than NBA athleticism. Really well rounded in terms of passing, decision making, defense, etc.

IMO Hawkins is a very good defender and has the skill to score efficiently & effectively within 15 feet of the basket. But also believe his passing and decision making has significant room for improvement (led team turnovers in 22/23) 23&24 team is probably better with him but it also might be time for him to test the waters.
