Probably like many of you, I'm in a state of trying to decide whether or not I can derive any pleasure from college basketball, given this new world order, and thus, determining whether I should continue to make time and emotional investments....the catalyst of this self-reflection being the RayJ recruitment.
In other words, for me, this s*it is getting old. I can only imagine how old it is getting for our staff.
My hope is that this is an off-season dynamic only (if that's the case, I think I'm good), but my concern is a lot of this manuevering will spill over and become part of an in-season narrative and make the college basketball season, in the words of my 7-year old, "yucky."
For 98-99% of college hoops players, it is my belief that they are not concerned with whether a program can help them be drafted or drafted higher, so it would make sense from their perspective, to chase a few extra $$. In the absence of professional hoops earnings potential, I wish more of the NIL discussion could take into context things like graduation rates and average beginning salaries for graduates instead of only absolute NIL contract $ terms. Maybe the conversations do, and I'm just naive....or maybe I'm just naive in general.
