Something I enjoyed about Coleman's clip was the last 4 seconds... TSJ showing what a great teammate he is. Cool stuff.
Yeah, who said TSJ is too nice of guy? The truth he's a great selfless teammate. The only thing that ever came up last year was that he occasional could have (maybe should have) taken more shots in the first half. And if he does magically come back to IL for another season, we can't let him be that selfless again. He's too damn good, and a role model for the whole team.

If they are getting paid, they are a) adults, not kids; b) not student athletes, but paid employees; c) not have to go to class; and d) should pay for tuition/room/board/books/fees. Welcome to adulting.

I have followed Illini BB and FB since '82, and love college sports because I've always felt the athletes were playing for the name on the front of their jersey, and in a way represented me as an alum (Naive, yes, I know). Those days are history, and it makes me just a little sad. I'll still follow the beloved, but it will not be with the fervor and passion of days gone by. Of course, the Chief is gone too . . . :hailtotheorange: :chief::hailtotheorange:

would think his decision one way or the other has been made. Can’t imagine skipping team play without a pick promise or already deciding to return to school.
I would think a pick promise would be the only reason you'd skip other than injury. You've shown up to get noticed and to get evaluated. Why lose the valuable opportunity to get feedback and see how you stack up.

The list has him, is there some other reason to think he's not playing?

I believe he is… he’s on a roster for the scrimmages and NBA front offices have made it clear that besides player interviews, the scrimmages are the most important thing for the players.

Great call. The list I saw had him missing.

Vecenie's new draft prospects list has Shannon at 36 and Hawkins at 57 ($): https://theathletic.com/4471377/2023/05/02/nba-draft-2023-big-board-prospects-wembanyama/

needless to say, if the TJS projection is relatively accurate, he's going. that would be a great overall result for the program, but obviously a blow to this season's team
If he wants to be a 1st rounder, he comes back. However, I don't understand why he would do that since he looks like a lock for 2nd round. Coleman is the one who should come back. At this rate, he has a chance to go undrafted.

hmmmmmm...........
I completely believe reports that he's expected back, but in a way it's just hard to imagine why if he's projected anywhere in the top 35-40. Don't get me wrong, I want TSJ back more than any other move we could make, i just wish I could wrap my head around what makes it worth it for him as compared to CoHawk who has been consistently projected in the 50-60 range. But then again, I don't have the inside scoop that you guys do so I'll keep believing :) you guys haven't given me a reason not to believe lol

Edit: NIL be NIL'ing is my main guess ?

I don't put much stock in that mock or most of them. About the only international player I saw listed when I refreshed that page was Wembanyama! These sites don't account enough for international players that move college players down draft boards. Last year I think 9 international players were drafted in the second round alone! These mocks arent in tune like NBA scouts are when considering international talent that effects draft position. Especailly as it pertains to the second round where TSJ and Hawk are projected.

You are right but 36 looks very safe to me, 57 not so much. It does not change the big picture.

Whats the story on the big man who transferred out of Kansas when Hunter transferred in?

I don't know if it is. I heard LaTulip say Brandon Paul was projected at 44 and with all the international players other guys BP fell completely out of the draft. Ayo also fell from being projected in the 20s first round quite a few spots to 38th in the second. TSJ could easily fall. I am not as confident as you that TSJ will be selected nearly that high. If the NIL money is competitive id take the sure thing if I were TSJ and Hawk.
