For all who have lost parents, they would want to be rembembered but they wouldn't want us to carry on suffering. Think about all the good times and keep there memory alive. A parent's greatest gift is to see their children happy.

Lville, if you have any pull could whisper to TSJ or RayJ to do it today, I'd appreciate it. I'm in serious need of good news; dad passed last week and I need a pick me up.
Words will help little at a time like this, but think about those special memories that make you smile. i lost my father more than thirty years ago and I still miss him, but the pain is gone. My second son was born the same day he died, so it was a roller-coaster of emotions that helped me get through it. Lean on those you love and celebrate his life.

Big, heartfelt thanks to all of you. Looks like we're not going to receive any news today, but seeing all the responses and dm's certainly has lifted my spirits. I owe my love of all things Illini to my dad. Having this community available to discuss and read about our favorite team (and cottage cheese) will help since I can't talk to him about it anymore. Thanks Dan for providing this space!

I lost my dad in 2009 at 21y/o. Worst day of my life, feels like yesterday. He is also responsible for the love I have for Da Illini. Sorry you went through all that man. Much love to ya!

I missed your earlier message. So sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family. The Illini will be good to go whenever to need decides to break.

So sorry for your loss, hope you and your family will take the time to heal. Thanks for sharing this.

-I originally said Shannon first to decide, but sounds like it’ll be RayJ. Here’s everything that I’ve heard the last 24 hours (I’ve been on vacation, so I’m in a different time zone). There’s been a lot of different buzz on different timelines, but this is what is expected as of tonight.

RayJ is going to be first this week. Sounds like Coleman and Shannon will be later in the week/weekend

Shannon still expected back but has one more workout left. Coleman has a one workout left as well, but he may not go to it. I was told unless Shannon gets an absolute guarantee from two different teams in the top 40, he’s coming back. He’s making an announcement this coming weekend Friday-Sunday. 80%ish chance he comes back. Coleman is still up in the air imo. But landing a very good pg makes it a lot more likely that he comes back, and we are going to do that.

There’s a solid backup plan for RayJ, but I’m very confident in Illinois landing him and not needing to do that. Getting RayJ makes Shannon and Coleman even more likely to come back too imo. The staff is expecting to land RayJ, as am I.

I will say though, there is a VERY good backup plan if RayJ doesn’t go our way (I expect he does). I was a little worried about having too many eggs in one basket, but the name I was given (grad transfer) blew me away. Again, don’t think it’ll come to this though-we will know for sure in the next two days.

We WILL have all the answers for the three guys mentioned at the end of the week. I expect we get 2/3, but all 3 is not off the table. I’m really excited about what the team can do next year-I’ve heard some really good things about the progression of certain guys already on the team. I’m checking off the board for a few days, but may stop by if we get some good news :). Keep a close eye on a RayJ announcement Monday or Tuesday

That would amazing to get Rayj and either TSJ or Coleman back. Getting four solid sr transfers Rayj, Marcus, Quincy, and Justin would be very impressive. Brad appears to have adjusted to transfer portal era.

Purcy , sorry about your dad ........I lost my dad 3 month's ago and I sympathize with you completely..........I have been going through a lot of emotions lately as it seems there is a transition period we all go through with the loss of a parent , but I also feel that he is still near and looking over me with whatever spirit being exists...........

my advice is to remember ALL the good times you spent together with a smile and it makes the agony more bearable.........I am an only child so no bros or sis' to confide in , but being strong will help you through the grief process.....At least it has for me ........

Lost my father early in life. Attending University of Illinois football games was always a memorable experience
Although we did spend the second half of many games in the Viking Room of the Ramada Inn, watching on television. :)

I like you LVille, but this post is exactly almost verbatim Piperesque. Are you Pipes?
