Indy, you sound like you are," Mark Tupper" ,Decatur. And would literally start writing articles to get our coaches fired. Relax, I thought you retired. Go fishing, 😆 🤣
We will be just fine! Trust the staff.

I’m not calling for anyone’s head … I simply state the facts … This team as it sits is not 2nd weekend good … You just missed on the guy we had all our chips on and the backup plans are not better than anything we’ve got right now …

I evaluate based on performance … Brad brought us back … There’s no doubt about it … But for how much he’s getting paid … The results aren’t living up to it … Period …

Do you think Josh is super thrilled ? I mean let’s be real … Brad had a lot riding on getting RayJ … The seat is warm and that’s coming from Josh …

Shannon needs the ball. Coleman needs the ball. And RayJ wants the ball. Need to build this team from HS recruits and not patch with transfers who all need to be the man at the same time.
I understand this POV but I think TSJ is a better player off the ball due to his lack of ball handling creativity and shooting off the dribble. I think Cohawk would also benifit from not having the ball all the time. The pick and pop game with Cohawk could be great.

Our recruits really havent worked out at that position lately and now we are having to go for transfer to gain experience.

I will do the job for half his salary. Please let Josh know.

You're burying Brad, but as of last night, there were more gifs going out. One insider said that it wasn't about money. He was plan A, which people thought, this morning, was going to land. Now, you're saying that he should have taken a other PG earlier and thru should have moved on from RayJ a month ago?

What would you have done to not make this a failure? How would you have succeeded? The story seems to be going to ways here on their takes, when again, 12 hours ago....all was good.
To me its kind of like a bird in hand situation. If someone that is very good wants to come you gotta take it unless your willing to gamble. Also one reason it seems so many guys are taking the NIL money because its there and the risk is minimal vs when you hopefully a 2nd round pick. I would take the money or the player that is close to the same rather than risk it. Waiting a week maybe but this got crazy risky at the end.. Most don't gamble like Kofi did or BU did on Ray J.

March madness results have caused me sleepless nights. He does have most wins past 4 season in Big10, title, and tourney title. Now we need success in Ncaa tourney. The sky is not falling.

Now hold on a minute. We've been told that he's a great kid and is just doing what all good kids should do during a recruitment! All the self - righteous posters - I mean posters - told us so. Seriously though, you could see this coming the minute Utah (Utah???) entered the equation - and probably sooner for those involved. The staff has to start recognizing these things earlier and avoiding these clown show recruitments. Move on if a kid and his circle want to play games publicly like this one.

Anyway, thanks for all of the info you share Lvill and other insiders. It is truly appreciated. Super glad TSJ and CH are back and hoping for the best at this point. But that is considerably lesser than it was two to three weeks ago.

I'm in no position to judge or second guess, but I do think part of the art of closing a negotiation is honestly assessing the trustworthiness of the people you're dealing with. From the accounts on the forum here, this had a lot of developments you'd have to squint pretty hard to still think the other side was working fully in good faith. It's clear the staff have backed off a number of recruitments, so they obviously understand the point --makes me wonder what the details were in this one that kept them in it through so many rounds all the way to the end. Makes me think they had every reason to believe they would prevail on the things that mattered, and what he expressed as a priority was not the real story. Just speculation on my part though.

One thing's for sure --with TSJ and CH back, this would be a very good opportunity for any PG that wants to showcase how they can distribute the ball. Not ideal to miss on your top guy, but still a lot of time given the way the things now work. For me personally, huge fan of TSJ --just love his style of play and heart. Staff deserves credit for forging strong relationships as well as the misses.

Eh, a 25% 3 point shooter?

We need a battle-tested shooter/distributor guy to complete the 23/24 team.

The spots that should have gone to more developmental longer-term talents are the Harmon and Guerrier slots.
We just need a point gaurd. We have shooter around now with Domask, Goode, Harmon, Gurrier and what Cohawk and Shannon can bring. Give me a pass first, steady guard to initiate offense and make smart decisions.

This team has scoring and shooting now but no ball handling or distributing.

Not much when you can do when:
Kid makes a promise
Kid goes behind your back and goes on another college visit
You up the NIL (Highest by far for any of the schools)
Get kids family behind Illinois
Kid still goes somewhere else
we heard plenty of didn't want to make it look like a fore gone conclusion (tampering) with Dennis. many raised red flags when that response/approach was taken. All part of the plan. Not the results, I or we were looking for.

Dear lord man. RayJ is a good player, but he's not as good as some of y'all think. I'm done for the day.

Will update with some names tomorrow
I dont think its as much of RayJ is a star as its we have zero back up options that are even close. Combine that with it was a problem last year, and its a really bad look for a coach that is the 7th highest paid in the NCAA.

Cant even imagine how much opposing programs are licking their lips with this on the recruiting trail. Guy gives up six figures to not play for BU, easy narrative to sell with the way it went down, true or not.

During this “portal season” we had 4-5 guys who wanted to come here and play PG … All of them are at P5 schools and would be better than anyone we’ll get now … 🤷🏻‍♂️
That is why I think when you really have a need at a certain position you should identify 2 to 3 guys who will work and go after them. First one who commits we take. None of this stringing us along stuff.
