Eh, a 25% 3 point shooter?
We need a battle-tested shooter/distributor guy to complete the 23/24 team.
The spots that should have gone to more developmental longer-term talents are the Harmon and Guerrier slots.
Now hold on a minute. We've been told that he's a great kid and is just doing what all good kids should do during a recruitment! All the self - righteous posters - I mean posters - told us so. Seriously though, you could see this coming the minute Utah (Utah???) entered the equation - and probably sooner for those involved. The staff has to start recognizing these things earlier and avoiding these clown show recruitments. Move on if a kid and his circle want to play games publicly like this one.
I get the frustration, bad miss by the staff....Gonna have to disagree with some of the stuff that's being said on here. The staff pulled out every stop and RayJ led them on.

Anyway, thanks for all of the info you share Lvill and other insiders. It is truly appreciated. Super glad TSJ and CH are back and hoping for the best at this point. But that is considerably lesser than it was two to three weeks ago.

I cannot dislike this enoughDuring this “portal season” we had 4-5 guys who wanted to come here and play PG … All of them are at P5 schools and would be better than anyone we’ll get now …
Epps transferring was a disaster. There's clearly something going on with the staff for that to happen. It should still be the way we build a team under Underwood, though.
probably a IDKHTI situation without a player anywhere near as talented as IDKHTI

Nobody projects us as a Top 15 team. That would be a best case scenario.

I get the frustration. It's a bad miss. But there is only so much the staff could do here. Could they have taken someone instead of RayJ? Yes, but hindsight is 20/20. They are going to land a point guard
I'm not disagreeing. But if comments here are true that we had most NIL on table and we had similar if not more play time to offer, what other factors played in here that Baylor came out on top. Baylor has been better and had more tourney success but isn't that why we brought in underwood, to have those things. I'm not saying we lost out due to those reasons but it is one point of distinction between our programs.
and we should just leave the scholarship open or let Ty run the point Man things sure change quick around hereOf all the bad recruiting misses in Illini history, this isn't quite Eric Gordon level bad, but it's up there.

You know.......leaving a scholly open may be an opportunity for a certain AZ PG. It wouldn't help us this year but......
Bird in the hand. I get that the staff must have felt this was the lock of the century to act the way they did, but if you had legitimate interest in someone earlier in the cycle and now your 30 deep on your PG list because you didn’t take 2-29 that’s just awful.
Dear lord man. RayJ is a good player, but he's not as good as some of y'all think. I'm done for the day.
