Shannon needs the ball. Coleman needs the ball. And RayJ wants the ball. Need to build this team from HS recruits and not patch with transfers who all need to be the man at the same time.
Eh, a 25% 3 point shooter?not going after Sallis is inexcusable omg
Now hold on a minute. We've been told that he's a great kid and is just doing what all good kids should do during a recruitment! All the self - righteous posters - I mean posters - told us so. Seriously though, you could see this coming the minute Utah (Utah???) entered the equation - and probably sooner for those involved. The staff has to start recognizing these things earlier and avoiding these clown show recruitments. Move on if a kid and his circle want to play games publicly like this one.
I get the frustration, bad miss by the staff....Gonna have to disagree with some of the stuff that's being said on here. The staff pulled out every stop and RayJ led them on.
They fill find a good point guard, I promise y'all
Just at a complete and utter loss how Brad allowed this to happen after the shitshow at the PG position last year. Quite concerning to say the least!
Bad news for you all: these “plan Bs” (realistically plan Fs) will be nowhere near the level of RayJ or any of the previous interested parties. Debacle. Someone will be added but I’d almost rather them say F-it and have Ty start the year handling the ball and leave the last scholly open. But after last year with Skyy/Jayden that won’t happen.
Agree … 100% …
Clearly different perspectives going on here...
I wouldn't skip the chance at RayJ for those 3 is what I'm saying. If you think anyone we can get is better than any of those 3 at their worst … Idk what to tell ya …
I cannot dislike this enoughDuring this “portal season” we had 4-5 guys who wanted to come here and play PG … All of them are at P5 schools and would be better than anyone we’ll get now …
You mean like we did last year and they all transferred ?
probably a IDKHTI situation without a player anywhere near as talented as IDKHTIWe should have moved on quicker. the 4 weeks lost is not acceptable. it injured our program. RayJ/BU cost us wins next year.
If this is true, RayJ public enemy number 1Not much when you can do when:
Kid makes a promise
Kid goes behind your back and goes on another college visit
You up the NIL (Highest by far for any of the schools)
Get kids family behind Illinois
Kid still goes somewhere else
Nobody projects us as a Top 15 team. That would be a best case scenario. In the end getting our two guys back makes the RayJ choice a lot less painful. We should still be a top 15 team imho. We're already better than last year.
Listen:Clearly different perspectives going on here...
I'm not disagreeing. But if comments here are true that we had most NIL on table and we had similar if not more play time to offer, what other factors played in here that Baylor came out on top. Baylor has been better and had more tourney success but isn't that why we brought in underwood, to have those things. I'm not saying we lost out due to those reasons but it is one point of distinction between our programs. How so? In the end RayJ chose one of two strong schools. Brad and the staff did all they could. Tip your hat and move on. No question Baylor has been better lately.
If we had lost to Utah the feeling would be much different.
You know.......leaving a scholly open may be an opportunity for a certain AZ PG. It wouldn't help us this year but......Just at a complete and utter loss how Brad allowed this to happen after the shitshow at the PG position last year. Quite concerning to say the least!

Now can we PLEASE get back to cottage cheese and college girls?
Bird in the hand. I get that the staff must have felt this was the lock of the century to act the way they did, but if you had legitimate interest in someone earlier in the cycle and now your 30 deep on your PG list because you didn’t take 2-29 that’s just awful.Listen:
I get the frustration. It's a bad miss. But there is only so much the staff could do here. Could they have taken someone instead of RayJ? Yes, but hindsight is 20/20. They are going to land a point guard
Dear lord man. RayJ is a good player, but he's not as good as some of y'all think. I'm done for the day.Of all the bad recruiting misses in Illini history, this isn't quite Eric Gordon level bad, but it's up there.
You know.......leaving a scholly open may be an opportunity for a certain AZ PG. It wouldn't help us this year but......
