I have no idea where RayJ ends up, but our fan base should have dropped the “woe is us,” waiting for the other shoe to drop complex years ago. I get some of you just baked that persona into your personalities at this point, but this program has recruited as well as nearly anyone in the conference over the last several years, and it hasn’t slowed down.

“Prepare for the worst, hope for the best” is not the same as having an inferiority complex with every decision because ~you’ve been hurt before.~ 🙃

I am officially nominating Fighter of the Nightman the Loyalty chief therapist. God knows we need one around here. He'll likely start by prescribing mass quantities of medicinal mary jane.

There's the answer to everything that's puzzling to you or anyone else about this.

Yes, it certainly is?

EDIT: Given LVille's post above mine, I also would venture to guess that all along he was using the IL offer to get more money from a place he wanted to go as opposed to using X/Y/Z to get more money from IL.

My wife said "yes" very quickly after I asked her to marry me. Why can't it be like that?
I need to be very careful in responding here ;) but I'd guess that perhaps your wife was not entertaining multiple bids at the time from various deep-pocketed suitors, no NIL $$ was involved, and she did not view her commitment to you as a one-year stepping stone to professional status.

Don't misunderstand me... she obviously chose wisely. :)

Baylor. Im sure there’s a backup plan. I just think the “insiders” on this board should refrain from the click bait GIFs and posts that imply things are a done deal when that has never been the case with this recruitment and Illinois’ side of the info has consistently been wrong throughout while national smoke has been on point
Why do you insist on writing that our "insiders" only get an Illinois perspective when it is clearly not true.

Only so much we could do. Staff will move on quickly-there’s 2 names in specific, one or both of which may be a grad on a current college team.

I’ll let y’all know when I hear more specifics-we are going to be just fine
Zyon Pullin and Trey Woodbury seem to be the only decent pgs currently in the portal. We didn't make Pullin's top 5 though.

True. After reading this board, he might just be thinking...'jeez, if this is what it's like, I'll just go back to Toledo'.

Is what it is....it's been pretty clear for a while that all things equal he'd prefer to go somewhere else, which is his prerogative.

The insiders can do whatever they want, guy who joined 2 weeks ago.

And by all means welcome! But the insiders put this board on their back content wise. And ultimately, how can they tell you what the decision is gonna be when the kid hasn't even made up his mind? I get your point insofar as in it comes to reporting fact as fact, speculation as speculation, etc., but ultimately all they can do is go off what they're hearing from their sources, which is decidedly more than what 99% of us have to contribute.

Probably not the case, but one way to interpret the events to date is that he doesn’t really want to come to Illinois and risk being second and possibly third banana, even though it would be more like the role he would have in the league. He could just be trying to optimize his NIL package but again it feels like he wants somebody to give him a reason to go somewhere else where he can still be the man.

Based mostly on reports that we had to significantly outbid Utah.
